Brenton Pomery
Brenton Pomery (born 11 March 1973), is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played for the North Sydney Bears from 1995 to 1996, the Western Suburbs Magpies from 1998 to 1999, the Wests Tigers in 2000 and finally the Melbourne Storm from 2000 to 2001. Playing career Pomery made his first grade debut for Norths against Newcastle in the 1995 qualifying final which Newcastle won 20–10. In 1996, Pomery played 14 games as Norths made the preliminary final against St George with Pomery playing in the match. St George went on to win 29-12 after narrowly leading 7–6 at half time. This was the club's 3rd preliminary final defeat in 6 years. In 1998, Pomery joined Western Suburbs and was part of the 1998 and 1999 sides which claimed back to back wooden spoons after coming last. The North Sydney Bears is an Australian rugby league football club based in North Sydney, New South Wales. The club competes in the New South Wales Cup, having exited the National Rugby League following the 1999 NRL season after 90 years in the premier rugby league competition in Australia. The Western Suburbs Magpies (legal name: Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club Ltd) are an Australian rugby league football club based in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales. Formed in 1908, Wests, as they are commonly referred to, were one of the nine foundation clubs of the first New South Wales Rugby League competition in Australia. The club, as a sole entity, departed the top-flight competition in 1999 after forming a 50–50 joint venture with Balmain Tigers to form the Wests Tigers. Wests Tigers
The Wests Tigers are an Australian professional Rugby league, rugby league football team, based in the Inner West and South West Sydney. They have competed in the National Rugby League since being formed at the end of the 1999 NRL season as a joint-venture club between the Balmain Tigers and the Western Suburbs Magpies. The Wests Tigers started playing in the 2000 NRL season and they won their maiden premiership in 2005 NRL season, 2005. It is one of only two clubs (the other being the Newcastle Knights) that has never lost a Grand Final in which it has participated. Melbourne Storm
The Melbourne Storm are a rugby league club based in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia that participates in the National Rugby League. The first fully professional rugby league team based in the state, the Storm entered the competition in 1998. The Storm were originally a Super League initiative, created in 1997 during the Super League war, however, following the Super League collapse, the team became a part of the newly formed, united competition. The club play their home games at AAMI Park. The Storm have won four premierships since their inception, in 1999, 2012, 2017 and 2020, and have contested several more grand finals, but were stripped of the 2007 and 2009 premierships following salary cap breaches.
