Brent F. Anderson
Brent F. Anderson (October 15, 1932 – June 18, 2013) was an American politician and electrical engineer who served as the fourth mayor of West Valley City, Utah, from 1987 until 1994. Early life He was born in Granger, Utah, a community that later incorporated as part of West Valley City, to Lester and LaPreal Anderson. In 1961 he married Delores Ashby in the Salt Lake Temple and together they had four children and 13 grandchildren. Anderson served in the U.S. Navy and graduated with a degree from the University of Utah in electrical engineering. He worked as an electrical engineer for Sperry-Univac and was a systems manager at UNISYS. Political career Anderson was involved with West Valley City since its incorporation in 1980. Draper, Utah
Draper is a city in Salt Lake and Utah counties in the U.S. state of Utah, about south of Salt Lake City along the Wasatch Front. As of the 2020 census, the population is 51,017, up from 7,143 in 1990. Draper is part of two metropolitan areas; the Salt Lake County portion is in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, while the Utah County portion is in the Provo-Orem metropolitan area. The Utah State Prison is in Draper, near Point of the Mountain, alongside Interstate 15. Gary Gilmore's execution occurred on 17 January 1977. The Utah Legislature voted to relocate the state prison to Draper in 2014 and in 2015 approved the Salt Lake City location the prison relocation commission recommended. Bangerter Highway
State Route 154 (SR-154) or Bangerter Highway (named after former Utah Governor Norman H. Bangerter) is a partial expressway running west and then north from Draper through western Salt Lake County, eventually reaching the Salt Lake City International Airport in Salt Lake City. Construction began in 1988 after planning for the highway began more than two decades prior. For the next ten years, portions of the highway opened as constructed, with the entire route finished by 1998. Original plans for the six-lane expressway running through the western suburbs of Salt Lake City placed Bangerter Highway running further north past the Salt Lake City International Airport into Davis County. However, any route north of the airport never reached fruition, whereas the original southerly end of the route was extended from Redwood Road to I-15. Michael Embley
Michael Roper Embley (born July 30, 1938) is an American politician who served as the third mayor of West Valley City, Utah. Career Embley was city coordinator for St. George, Utah from 1970 to 1973. He then served as the city manager of Cedar City, Utah from 1973 to 1978. In 1983 he served a short appointed term as acting Salt Lake County Treasurer, and later served as a board member of the Salt Lake Valley Water Conservancy District. Embley was general manager of the Kearns Improvement District when he decided to get involved in West Valley City politics. West Valley City Politics Embley was elected to represent District 1 on the West Valley City Council on November 3, 1981 over Ray White with a vote of 53% to 47%.
