Bremangerlandet
Bremangerlandet is an island in Bremanger Municipality in the traditional district of Nordfjord in Vestland county, Norway. The island is one of the largest islands in the county. The highest point on the island is the tall mountain Svartevassegga, however the cliff at Hornelen, located to the east, is more well-known and has an elevation of . The long lake Dalevatnet is located in the central part of the island. The island is located northeast of the smaller island of Frøya. Bremangerlandet island lies on the southern side of the mouth of the large Nordfjorden and the island of Vågsøy lies on the north side of the fjord's mouth. The small island of Husevågøy lies in the middle of the fjord, just north of Bremangerlandet. The island is connected to the island of Frøya (to the southwest) by a series of bridges. Frøya, Bremanger
Frøya is an island in the western part of Bremanger Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The island is located just to the southwest of the big island of Bremangerlandet and its highest point is Fanneskarvarden at an elevation of . Almost all the residents of the island live on the southeastern shore. The island contains the main village of Kalvåg as well as the minor settlements of Liset, Steinset, Nesje, Stranda, and Frøyalandet. Frøya is located on the northern side of the Frøysjøen strait, which is part of the seaway between the towns of Florø and Måløy. The island is connected to the nearby island of Bremangerlandet by a series of small bridges, and Bremangerlandet is connected to the mainland via an undersea tunnel and a bridge. The population (2001) of the island of Frøya (including the small nearby islets) is about 560. The main industries on the island are tourism and fish processing. Bremanger Church
Bremanger Church ( no, Bremanger kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bremanger Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Bremanger on the island of Bremangerlandet. It is the church for the Bremanger parish which is part of the Nordfjord prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1914 by the architect Anders Karlsen from Eid. The church seats about 400 people. The church was originally called ''Bremangerpollen Chapel''. The name was changed to ''Bremanger Church'' in 1952. The church is located at Hauge, in the innermost part of the Bremangerpollen bay. The church was consecrated on 4 September 1914 by the bishop Johan Willoch Erichsen. Bremanger Municipality
Bremanger is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village of Svelgen is the administrative centre of the municipality. Other villages include Bremanger, Berle, Davik, Isane, Kalvåg, Svelgen, Rugsund, and Ålfoten. Bremanger is the only municipality in Vestland, which is located in two districts. The northern and eastern parts comprising the villages of Oldeide, Berle, Rugsund, Davik, Isane, and Ålfoten is located in the Nordfjord region, while the villages of Bremanger, Kalvåg, Svelgen, Sørgulen, and Botnane are located in the Sunnfjord region. Politically, the municipality works with the Nordfjord region in the council of Nordfjord municipalities. Hornelen
Hornelen is a mountain in Bremanger Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The mountain sits on the eastern end of the island of Bremangerlandet, along the Frøysjøen strait, in the Nordfjord region of Norway. At , it is the highest sea cliff in Europe (see illustration left), and has for a long time been used as a landmark for naval navigation. It is a 4-hour hike to the summit from Berleneset (across the small fjord from the village of Berle). The horizontal distance from the summit to the sea is approximately . Husevågøy
Husevågøy is an island in Kinn Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The island is mountainous with few trees. The island lies in the mouth of the Nordfjorden, between the islands of Vågsøy and Bremangerlandet. In 2018, there were about 50 residents on the island. There is a car ferry that runs from the town of Måløy on Vågsøy island (to the north) to Husevågøy and then on to Oldeide on Bremangerlandet (to the south). Historically, the island was part of the old municipality of Davik. In 1964, Husevågøy and several small surrounding islands were transferred to Vågsøy Municipality. Then in 2020, the area became part of Kinn Municipality. Berle Church
Berle Church ( no, Berle kyrkje) is a parish church and community center () of the Church of Norway in Bremanger Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Berle. It is the church for the Berle parish which is part of the Nordfjord prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, concrete church was built in a Churches in Norway#Floor plan, rectangular style in 1977 by the architect Alf Apalseth from Ørsta. The church seats about 210 people. The church was consecrated on 3 July 1977 by Bishop Thor With. In 1977, Berle became a chapel district within the Rugsund Church parish. In 1981, Berle was transferred to the Bremanger Church parish. On 1 October 1999, the parish of Berle was established. At that time, Berle Chapel was renamed Berle Church. Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. The administrative centre of the county is the city of Bergen, where the executive and political leadership is based, but the County Governor is based in Hermansverk. Nordfjorden (Vestland)
Nordfjorden is the sixth longest fjord in Norway. It flows through the municipalities of Stryn, Gloppen, Stad, Bremanger, and Kinn, and it is the central feature of the entire Nordfjord region which makes up the northern third of the county. The long fjord stretches from Husevågøy island in Kinn Municipality to the village of Loen in Stryn Municipality. The fjord starts as runoff from the Jostedalsbreen, Europe's largest mainland glacier, in the east and it flows west, emptying into the ocean just south of the Stadlandet peninsula. The mouth of the fjord lies between the large islands of Vågsøy and Bremangerlandet (with the smaller island of Husevågøy lying in the middle of the mouth). There are several smaller fjords which branch off the main Nordfjorden: Eidsfjorden, Ålfotfjorden, Hyefjorden, and Gloppefjorden. Berle
Berle is a village on the west coast of Norway. It is located on the eastern coast of Bremangerlandet island in the municipality of Bremanger in Vestland county. The village lies along the Berlepollen fjord, a small inlet off the Frøysjøen strait which separates it from the mainland. The village of Berle lies about west of the Hornelen cliff and about a drive west from the village of Bremanger. Berle Church is located in the village, serving the people in this part of the municipality. The population (2001) of the village is 135. Name The name of the village comes from the name of the small river nearby ( non, Berðla). The small Berlepollen fjord nearby is similarly named.
