Breiðablik Women's Basketball
The Breiðablik women's basketball team, commonly known as Breiðablik, is the women's basketball department of the Breiðablik multi-sport club. It is based in Kópavogur, Iceland. As of 2018–2019 season its plays in the Icelandic top-tier Úrvalsdeild kvenna. History During their first season in the Úrvaldeild in 1994–95, Breiðablik won the national championship after beating Keflavík in the finals. In 2017 the club won promotion from 1. deild kvenna to the Úrvalsdeild. In 2019, Breiðablik finished last in the league but was speared from relegation as Stjarnan withdrew its team from the Úrvalsdeild. Úrvalsdeild Kvenna (basketball)
Úrvalsdeild kvenna; English: Women's Premier League, known as Subway deild kvenna for sponsorship reasons, is the highest basketball competition among women's clubs in Iceland. It is administrated by the Icelandic Basketball Federation. It was founded in 1952 and, until 2007, it was known as 1. deild kvenna (English: Women's First division). Betsy Harris
Betsy Harris (born April 2, 1972) is an American basketball coach and former professional player. Early life Harris was born in Jacksonville, Florida. She went to Decatur High School, in Decatur, Mississippi, where she won the state championship in 1990. College career Harris played college basketball for the University of Alabama from 1990 to 1994. She led Alabama to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and a trip the NCAA Division I Final Four in 1994. She earned Second-Team All-SEC honors as a senior in 1994 and was also named the MVP of the Midwest Regional and earned a spot on the 1994 Final Four All-Tournament Team. Sóllilja Bjarnadóttir
Sóllilja Bjarnadóttir (born 13 February 1995) is an Icelandic basketball player who plays for Breiðablik in the Icelandic top-tier Úrvalsdeild kvenna. Outside of Breiðablik, she has played with Stjarnan, Valur and KR in Iceland. She played professionally for A3 Basket Umeå in the Basketligan dam during the 2021–2022 season. Sanja Orozović ( sr, Сања Орозовић; born 11 May 1990) is Serbian- Hungarian professional basketball player who plays for Breiðablik of the Icelandic top-tier Úrvalsdeild kvenna. In 2018, she won the Women Adriatic Basketball Association championship with Budućnost Bemax. In 2020, she won the Icelandic Super Cup with Skallagrímur. Olga Færseth
Andrea Olga Færseth (born 23 May 1975) is an Icelandic former multi-sport athlete. She was a member of the Icelandic national teams in both football and basketball. In 1994, Olga won the national championship and national cup in both football and basketball. Football Club career Olga started her senior career with Keflavík in 1991 but moved to Breiðablik in 1992 where she became Icelandic champion in 1992 and 1994. In 1995 she joined KR where she became Icelandic champion three years in a row (1997-1999). She is the leading scorer in the Icelandic women's top division, scoring 269 goals in 217 games. Kelly Elizabeth Faris (born January 16, 1991) is an American former basketball player. Faris played shooting guard for the Connecticut Huskies women's basketball, Connecticut women's basketball team, and won two national championships in 2010 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament, 2010 and 2013 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament, 2013. She was on a post-season championship team for five consecutive seasons, including four consecutive high school state championships and two NCAA championship.
