The Berlin U-Bahn (; short for , "underground railway") is a rapid transit system in Berlin, the capital and largest city of Germany, and a major part of the city's public transport system. Together with the S-Bahn, a network of suburban train lines, and a tram network that operates mostly in the eastern parts of the city, it serves as the main means of transport in the capital. Dahlem (Berlin)
Dahlem ( or ) is a locality of the Steglitz-Zehlendorf borough in southwestern Berlin. Until Berlin's 2001 administrative reform it was a part of the former borough of Zehlendorf. It is located between the mansion settlements of Grunewald and Lichterfelde West. Dahlem is one of the most affluent parts of the city and a center for academic research. Paul Von Breitenbach
Paul Justin von Breitenbach (16 April 1850 – 10 March 1930) was a Prussian politician and railway planner. Breitenbach was central to the building of the underground in Berlin, specifically the line between the city center and Berlin-Dahlem (today U3). The ''Breitenbachplatz'' in Dahlem was named after him in 1913. Life Breitenbach was born in Danzig (Gdańsk) in the Province of Prussia. His father was a lawyer: Paul was one of seven recorded siblings. After attendind the Gymnasium (secondary school) he moved on to study law in Leipzig 1869 and continued in Berlin. Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport that transfers passengers and goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails, which are incorporated in tracks.
