Matzah brei ( yi, מצה ברײַ ''matse bray'', literally 'matzah porridge'; he, מצה בריי, ''matzah brei'', or , ''matzah metugenet'', literally, "fried matzah"), sometimes spelled matzah brie, matzoh brei, or matzo brei, is a dish of Ashkenazi Jewish origin made from matzah fried with eggs. It is commonly eaten as a breakfast food during the Jewish holiday of Passover. Etymology The Yiddish term מצה ברײַ ''matse bray'' literally means 'matzah porridge'; ברײַ ''bray'' 'porridge' is descended from a Middle High German word ''brī'' of the same meaning. History Gil Marks in his ''Encyclopedia of Jewish Food'' asserts that matzah brei as a fried matzah-and-egg dish originated in North America. He notes the publication of a recipe for "Fried Matzos", consisting of soaked whole matzah fried in butter or schmaltz, in ''The Jewish Manual'' (London, 1846). Dieter Brei
Dieter Brei (30 September 1950) is a former Germans, German Association football, footballer, now a football trainer. Biography Brei was born in Verl near Bielefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia. He began his football career in the early days of black and white television broadcasting. In 1970, he transferred to Arminia Bielefeld in the Bundesliga, where he played in 43 games and scored three goals. After the team's relegation in 1972, he transferred to Fortuna Düsseldorf where he continued his playing career, scoring 30 goals in 221 games, until injuries forced him to retire in 1981. During this time he won as a member of the winning Fortuna team the DFB-Pokal in the years 1979 and 1980. Overall as a defensive and midfield player he played in 264 Bundesliga games, in which he scored 33 goals. Po Krei Brei
Po Krei Brei (?–?), also known as Cei Kei Brei, was a ruler of Champa who briefly ruled in 1783-1786 and again in 1790. His Vietnamese name was Nguyễn Văn Chiêu (阮文昭). His Muslim name was Muhammad Ali ibn Wan Daim. He had a brief rule in the shadow of the Tây Sơn wars that engulfed Vietnam between 1771 and 1802, and ended his life as a refugee in Cambodia. Appointment by the Tây Sơn Po Krei Brei was a Cham prince, being the son of King Po Tisuntiraydapaghoh. He was born in a Year of the Rooster (1753? 1765?). When his father was executed by the Tây Sơn ruler Nguyễn Nhạc in 1780 due to the treacherous acts of Po Tisuntiraidapuran (Nguyễn Văn Tá), Po Krei Brei was staying in Cambodia. Po Tisuntiraidapuran was able to access the feeble Cham throne for a short time. However, the returning Po Krei Brei managed to prove his father's innocence. "Sweet Porridge" (german: Der süße Brei), often known in English under the title of "The Magic Porridge Pot", is a folkloric German fairy tale recorded by the Brothers Grimm, as tale number 103 in ''Grimm's Fairy Tales'', in the 19th century.
