Breda () is a city and municipality in the southern part of the Netherlands, located in the province of North Brabant. The name derived from ''brede Aa'' ('wide Aa' or 'broad Aa') and refers to the confluence of the rivers Mark and Aa. Annemarie Jorritsma-Lebbink (born 1 June 1950) is a Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and businesswoman. Education in the Netherlands is characterized by division: education is oriented toward the needs and background of the pupil. Miss Nederland is a national Beauty pageant in the Netherlands. The pageant was founded in 1929, where the winners were sent to Miss Universe. History Former pageant From 1929 to 1931, the Netherlands held a national pageant in Amsterdam for the first time called "Miss Holland". From 1932 to 1949 the pageant was briefly discontinued and later recommenced in 1951 by the Miss Holland Organization. Irena Arkesteijn-Pantelic (born 1981, Rotterdam) is a model from the Netherlands. She was Miss Nederland in 2001. She represented the Netherlands at the Miss World pageant in Sun City, South Africa. Pantelic was born in Rotterdam, her parents are immigrants from former Yugoslavia. She was raised in Capelle aan den IJssel and attended the Nationale Hogeschool voor Toerisme en Verkeer in Breda. In 2001 she first became Miss South Holland and later went on to become Miss Netherlands. In 2002 she became a candidate for the Dutch Parliament for the Lijst Pim Fortuyn. The dijkgraaf is the equivalent of a mayor in local government and a King's Commissioner in provincial government, chairing both the legislative and executive council, while having both ceremonial and representational roles as well as their own portfolios. Soest () is a municipality and a town in the central Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht. It is about west of Amersfoort. Population centres The town of Soest The oldest documents mentioning Soest (then written as ''Zoys'') date from 1029.
