Breda A650
The A650 is an electric multiple unit subway car built for use on the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The cars were manufactured by the Italian company Breda at its Pistoia plant between 1988 and 1997 and are used on the Metro B and D Lines. Details The fleet of 104 vehicles was supplied in two orders. The first batch of vehicles (fleet numbers 501–530) were built between 1988 and 1993 and are propelled by chopper control and DC motors designed and manufactured by Garrett Air Research, later supported by ABB. The second batch of vehicles (fleet numbers 531–604), were built between 1995 and 1997 and include 3-phase AC 4-pole asynchronous traction motors and VVVF inverter control using GTO thyristor technology, manufactured by General Electric. Società Italiana Ernesto Breda (), more usually referred to simply as Breda, was an Italian mechanical manufacturing company founded by Ernesto Breda in Milan in 1886. 7th Street/Metro Center station is an underground light rail and rapid transit (known locally as a subway) station on the A, B, D, and E lines of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. Westlake/MacArthur Park station is an underground rapid transit (known locally as a subway) station on the B Line and D Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station is located near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Westlake, after which the station is named, along with MacArthur Park, which is located across the street. Unlike most of Metro's other underground stations, which are built directly under a street, the Westlake/MacArthur Park platform is actually located south of Wilshire Boulevard and between 7th Street. The HR4000 is a rapid transit railcar being manufactured by CRRC and assembled in Springfield, Massachusetts for the Los Angeles Metro Rail heavy rail lines. A total of 64 cars are being built as part of the base order, primarily for initial section of the D Line Extension, with 5 (contradictory information exists about this) options that total 218 cars, 282 cars total, intended to replace the Breda A650 as well as for overall expansion and to accommodate the later parts of the extension. Purple Line Extension
The Purple Line Extension, formerly known as the Westside Subway Extension and the Subway to the Sea, is a new heavy-rail subway corridor in Los Angeles County, California, extending the D Line (Purple Line) from its current terminus at in Koreatown, Los Angeles, to the Westside region.
