Edgar Breau
Edgar Breau is a musician in Ontario, Canada. He was a member of the Hamilton-based band Simply Saucer in the 1970s, and has released a number of solo albums. In 1974, Simply Saucer recorded a demo tape of music under the supervision of Robert Lanois which combined psychedelic, Krautrock and early punk influences (Syd Barrett, the Velvet Underground and Iggy Pop have been cited as among the band's influences). The band broke up in 1979, and their recording was not released until 1989 as '' Cyborgs Revisited''. ''Cyborgs Revisited'' was first issued on CD in 1992, by the Chicago-based Fistpuppet label. A remastered edition, with additional material from the 1977-1979 version of Simply Saucer, was issued in 2003 by Hamilton's Sonic Unyon label. In 2004, Breau issued a solo album entitled '' Canadian Primitive''. Recorded over a period of 14 years at Grant Avenue Studios in Hamilton, the album was generally described as folk-psychedelia. Herb Breau
Herb Breau, (born December 5, 1944) is a Canadian businessman and former politician. Born in Haut-Sheila, New Brunswick, Breau was a Liberal Member of Parliament (MP) representing Gloucester from the 1968 election until his defeat in the 1984 election that reduced the Liberal caucus to only 40 MPs. Breau served as a parliamentary secretary in the 1970s. He served as chairman of the Parliamentary Task Forces on North-South Relations and on Fiscal Federalism in Canada, chairman of the Parliamentary Association of Canada-United States from 1977 to 1981, and a member of the Trilateral Commission from 1981 to 1984. Breau was appointed to Cabinet as Minister of Fisheries and Oceans when John Turner became Prime Minister of Canada in June 1984. His ministerial career ended just over two months later as a result of the election that defeated the Turner government. Jean-François Breau (born 29 July 1978 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian singer-songwriter of Acadian origin. Biography Born in Hamilton, Ontario of an Acadian father from Tracadie–Sheila and a mother from Matane, Breau grew up in Tracadie–Sheila, on the Acadian Peninsula, in the Gloucester county of New Brunswick. He presently resides in Quebec. After finishing his secondary education, Jean-Francois studied medicine. He was a health major at University of Moncton's Shippagan Campus to become a cardiologist. In 2004, he took over the lead role in another musical comedy ''Don Juan'' of Félix Gray. His role was opposite the lead role of Marie-Ève Janvier. The show had 350 presentations in Canada, France and South Korea, and the album from the show featuring songs by Breau sold 350,000 worldwide. Lenny Breau
Leonard Harold Breau (August 5, 1941 – August 12, 1984) was an American-Canadian guitarist. He blended many styles of music, including jazz, country, classical, and flamenco. Inspired by country guitarists like Chet Atkins, Breau used fingerstyle techniques not often used in jazz guitar. By using a seven-string guitar and approaching the guitar like a piano, he opened up possibilities for the instrument. Biography Early life Breau was born August 5, 1941, in Auburn, Maine, and moved with his family to Moncton, New Brunswick in 1948. His francophone parents, Harold Breau and Betty Cody, were professional country and western musicians who performed and recorded from the mid-1930s until the mid-1970s. From the mid to late 1940s they played summer engagements in southern New Brunswick, advertising their performances by playing free programs on radio station CKCW Moncton. History Originally released on Direct-Disk Labs, it was reissued in 1995 on the Adelphi label and as ''Lenny Breau Trio'' on CD on the Genes label in 1999. Breau's friend and mentor Chet Atkins guests on "You Needed Me". Reception Writing for Allmusic, music critic Scott Yanow called Breau "in fine form" and wrote of the album "This album gives listeners a strong example of his legendary artistry."
