Breakout 2000
''Breakout 2000'' is a 1996 Action game, action video game developed by MP Games and published by Telegames for the Atari Jaguar. Part of the ''2000'' series by Atari Corporation, it is a Video game remake, remake of the arcade game ''Breakout (video game), Breakout'' (1976), and one of the last officially licensed releases for the platform. Featuring a similar premise, the player must destroy a layer of brick lines by repeatedly bouncing a ball spawned off a paddle into them and keep it in play. It modifies the gameplay of the original game, introducing a third-person perspective behind the paddle in a pseudo-3D playfield, power-ups, bonus levels, enemies, varying level designs, and multiplayer. Telegames, Inc. is an American video game company based in Mabank, Texas, with a sister operation based in England. Telegames was known for supporting not just modern game systems but also classic game systems, after they had been abandoned by its manufacturer. For example, by 1997 Telegames was the Atari Jaguar's only software publisher, and continued to publish for the system up through 1998. Atari TT030
The Atari TT030 is a member of the Atari ST family, released in 1990. It was originally intended to be a high-end Unix workstation, but Atari took two years to release a port of Unix SVR4 for the TT, which prevented the TT from ever being seriously considered in its intended market. In 1992, the TT was replaced by the Atari Falcon, a low-cost consumer-oriented machine with greatly improved graphics and sound capability, but with a slower and severely bottle-necked CPU. The Falcon possesses only a fraction of the TT's raw CPU performance. Though well priced for a workstation machine, the TT's high cost kept it mostly out of reach of the existing Atari ST market until after the TT was discontinued and sold at discount.
