''Breakfast in Bed'' is a studio album by Joan Osborne. It was produced by Tor Hyams and released on May 22, 2007 by Time Life. The album mostly contains soul cover songs from the 1970s and 1980s, including "I've Got to Use My Imagination" and "Midnight Train to Georgia," both made popular by Gladys Knight & the Pips. The album also contains six original songs. Two cover songs that Osborne sang live from the documentary movie, '' Standing in the Shadows of Motown'' are featured at the end of this album: Martha and the Vandellas' "Heat Wave" and Jimmy Ruffin's " What Becomes of the Brokenhearted?" Joan Osborne
Joan Elizabeth Osborne (born July 8, 1962) is an American singer, songwriter, and interpreter of music, having recorded and performed in various popular American musical genres including rock, pop, soul, R&B, blues, and country. She is best known for her recording of the Eric Bazilian-penned song " One of Us" from her debut album, ''Relish'' (1995). Both the single and the album became worldwide hits and garnered a combined seven Grammy Award nominations. Linda Diane Creed (December 6, 1948 – April 10, 1986), also known by her married name Linda Epstein, was an American songwriter and lyricist who teamed up with Thom Bell to produce some of the most successful Philadelphia soul groups of the 1970s. Eddie Hinton
Eddie Hinton (15 June 1944 – 28 July 1995) was an American songwriter and session musician, best known for his work with soul music and R&B singers. He played lead guitar for Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section from 1969 to 1971 and after leaving the band, he was replaced by Pete Carr as lead guitarist. Career Hinton was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on June 15, 1944, to Laura Deanie and Horton C. Hinton. Hinton's parents divorced in 1949, and he and his mother moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where his mother later remarried. He formed the Five Minutes, also known as Five Men-Its, who quickly garnered regional recognition. Two of the members of the group, drummer Johnny Sandlin and keyboardist Paul Hornsby, would join Duane and Gregg Allman in the Hour Glass and later go on to success as record producers.
