''Australian Playhouse'' was an Australian anthology TV series featuring the work of Australian writers. It ran for two series consisting of 40 episodes. Among the featured productions were works by Pat Flower who was the main writer having written 10 episodes, other writers included Tony Morphett, John Warwick, Barbara Vernon, Richard Lane, James Davern and David Sale Background Development In August 1965 Talbot Duckmanton of the ABC announced that the ABC would increase its production of local drama, including a show called ''Australian Playhouse''. Michael Boddy
Michael Boddy (8 March 193413 April 2014) was an English-Australian actor and writer. His best known works include co-writing the play '' The Legend of King O'Malley'' with Bob Ellis. Personal Boddy was born in the village of Baldersby, Yorkshire. His father George Boddy was the local vicar. He studied at Marlborough College and the University of Cambridge; two years of medicine were replaced by studies in natural sciences, classics and literature. He met his first wife, the poet and writer Margaret Scott, in England, and they migrated to Tasmania in 1959. There he taught at a Hobart high school, while Margaret developed her career as a poet and writer. His second wife, whom he married in 1968 after moving to Sydney in 1965, was the artist Janet Dawson. She won the 1973 Archibald Prize with a portrait of Boddy. George Whaley (actor)
George Whaley (19 June 1934 – 6 August 2019) was an Australian actor, director and writer, known for his work across theatre and film. He was born in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia. He wrote and directed the mini-series ''The Harp in the South'' and it; sequel ''Poor Man's Orange'', as well as '' Dad and Dave: On Our Selection.'' He directed the film ''Dancing'', produced by David Elfick, which was shown at the Melbourne International Film Festival in 1980. George Whaley was National Institute of Dramatic Art’s Head of Acting from 1976 to 1981, taking over from Alexander Hay.
