BreakThru Films is an independent film production company based in Sopot in Poland. Founded in 2002 by Hugh Welchman and initially based in the United Kingdom. The company concentrated mostly in the production of short films, animation, documentary and live-stage shows but has since focused mainly on feature films. Their 2006 short film ''Peter and the Wolf'' was awarded an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film and their 2017 feature film ''Loving Vincent'' was Academy nominated for Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Hugh Welchman
Hugh Stewart Jasper Welchman (born February 1975) is a British filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer. Life and career Welchman comes from Bracknell in Berkshire and attended the Dolphin School in nearby Hurst until moving on to Keble College, Oxford during the 1990s and graduated with a degree from Oxford University in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE). In 2002, Welchman founded the film company BreakThru Films. This led to him becoming the joint winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2007. This was for the 2006 film ''Peter and the Wolf''. The other winner was the film's director Suzie Templeton. The Peasants
''The Peasants'' ( pl, Chłopi) is a novel written by the Polish author Władysław Reymont in four parts between 1904 and 1909. He started writing it in 1897, but because of a railway accident and health problems, it took seven years to complete. The first parts of the story were published in the weekly magazine ''Tygodnik Illustrowany''. The novel has been translated into at least 27 languages. Description Each of the four parts represents a season in the life of the peasants – Autumn (published in 1904), Winter (published in 1904), Spring (published in 1906), and Summer (published in 1909). This division underlines the relationship of human life with nature. Analysis Reymont decided to write about peasant life because of historical events, which took place in Polish villages in the early 20th century. Slate
Slate is a fine-grained, foliated, homogeneous metamorphic rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash through low-grade regional metamorphism. It is the finest grained foliated metamorphic rock. Foliation may not correspond to the original sedimentary layering, but instead is in planes perpendicular to the direction of metamorphic compression. The foliation in slate is called "slaty cleavage". It is caused by strong compression causing fine grained clay flakes to regrow in planes perpendicular to the compression. When expertly "cut" by striking parallel to the foliation, with a specialized tool in the quarry, many slates will display a property called fissility, forming smooth flat sheets of stone which have long been used for roofing, floor tiles, and other purposes. Papa's Boy
Papa's is the oldest running family group of fish and chip shops. Papas was founded in 1966, by Mr Papas, the family is currently in its third generation and still operate the businesses. In 2015 the family opened their largest restaurant to date, a 320-seat restaurant and takeaway, which was the world's biggest fish and chip shop, in Willerby in the East Riding of Yorkshire. In August 2016 they announced expansion into Hull with the conversion of the Swiss Cottage public house into a 250-seat restaurant and takeaway. The Annecy International Animation Film Festival (french: Festival international du film d'animation d'Annecy, officially abbreviated in English as the Annecy Festival, or simply Annecy) was created in 1960 and takes place at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy, France.
