Brazilian Girls
Brazilian Girls is a band from New York City, New York, United States, known for their eclectic blend of electronic dance music with musical styles as diverse as tango music, tango, chanson, house music, house, reggae and lounge music, lounge (but no Brazilian rhythms at all). None of the members are actually from Brazil and the only female in the band is the Italy, Italian singer Sabina Sciubba. Other members include Argentina, Argentine Musical keyboard, keyboardist Didi Gutman, drummer Aaron Johnston and bassist Jesse Murphy. The band released four studio albums: their Brazilian Girls (album), self-titled debut on 1 February 2005, ''Talk to La Bomb'' on 12 September 2006, and ''New York City (Brazilian Girls album), New York City'' on 5 August 2008, and ''Let's Make Love (Brazilian Girls album), Let's make Love'' on 13 April 2018. ''Brazilian Girls'' is the first album by the American music group Brazilian Girls. It was released on February 1, 2005 by Verve Records. The album mixes a number of different musical styles, from reggae to samba and house to acid jazz, as well as many different languages, as lead singer Sabina Sciubba goes from English to French, Italian, German and Spanish. The song "Me gustas cuando callas" ("I like you when you're quiet") is based on a poem by Pablo Neruda, from his well-known 1924 collection ''Veinte poemas de amor y una canción desesperada'', and " Die Gedanken sind frei" ("Thoughts Are Free") is a German protest song about the freedom of thought that became popular with the revolutions of 1848. The French song title "Les sirènes de la fête" means "the Sirens of the party." Nublu Club
The Nublu Club is a club in East Village, Manhattan, New York, that was opened in 2002 by Swedish-Turkish saxophonist Ilhan Ersahin. On its 10th anniversary the club's namesake festival presented what it calls the Nublu Sound, a combination of jazz, African, South American, Caribbean, electronic, and dance music.
