Brazil v. Great Britain The Brazil women's national rugby sevens team has appeared in the Olympics, the Rugby World Cup, the Women's Sevens Series, and other competitions. Brazil has won every regional championship in South America. Their team nickname "Yara" was coined in 2013, and comes from the local Tupí-Guaraní mythology. It was meant to signify the courage and collective strength of women’s rugby in Brazil and also to connect them with their country’s roots. They qualified for the Tokyo Olympics after defeating Colombia in the finals of the 2019 Sudamérica Rugby Women's Sevens Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Brazil and Colombia qualified for the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens in South Africa. The 2013 Dubai Sevens was the first tournament within the 2013-14 Sevens World Series. It was held over the weekend of 28–29 November 2013 at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai. 2013–14 IRB Women's Sevens World Series
The 2013–14 IRB Women's Sevens World Series was the second edition of the IRB Women's Sevens World Series, organized by the IRB annual series of tournaments for women's national teams in rugby sevens. In August 2013, the IRB announced that the season would consist of six tournaments - in Dubai, the Atlanta suburb of Kennesaw, Georgia, São Paulo, Guangzhou and Amsterdam - played from November 2013 to May 2014, with a sixth tournament to be announced later. However, the sixth tournament never took place, and official literature referred to São Paulo as stop two of five. The Amsterdam Women's Sevens began in 2005. On 4 October 2012, the IRB announced the launch of the IRB Women's Sevens World Series, the women's counterpart to the wildly successful IRB Sevens World Series for men.
