Brazil World Rally Team
The Brazil World Rally Team (or BWRT) is a Brazilian World Rally Championship team, based in Salvador, Brazil and Groß-Enzersdorf, Austria, that made their début in the 2011 season at the Rally de Portugal, round three of the 2011 season. They started with a Super 2000-spec Mini before switching to the Mini John Cooper Works WRC for their next round, the Rally d'Italia Sardegna. In 2012, at the Rally de Portugal, they switched to the Ford Fiesta RS WRC. The team has been registered as a WRC Team entry, and plans to add a second car to the lineup by 2013. The Brazil World Rally Team has young Brazilian driver Daniel Oliveira along with his Portuguese co-driver Carlos Magalhães. The main goal for BWRT is to increase the popularity of rallying in Brazil. The reason for this is that Brazil has not had much success over the 38 years of the existence of the WRC. Ari Vatanen
Ari Pieti Uolevi Vatanen (; born 27 April 1952) is a Finnish rally driver turned politician and a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 1999 to 2009. Vatanen won the World Rally Championship drivers' title in 1981 and the Paris Dakar Rally four times. In addition, Vatanen won the 1997 FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies. Since 2013 Vatanen has been the President of the Estonian Autosport Union. Racing career His debut year in rallying was 1970, and he debuted in the World Rally Championship at the 1974 1000 Lakes Rally. In that year he won the Nortti Rally in an Opel Ascona, beating Hannu Mikkola in the process, which brought him to wider attention. The 2011 Wales Rally GB, formally the 67th Wales Rally of Great Britain, was the thirteenth and final round of the 2011 World Rally Championship season. The rally took place over 10–13 November, and was based in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. The rally was also the seventh and final round of the Production World Rally Championship, and the sixth and final round of the WRC Academy. The route returned to the Great Orme stage for the first time in thirty years, as well as the Dyfnant and Dyfi East and West stages for the first time in fifteen years. Jari-Matti Latvala took his first WRC victory since 2010 Rally Finland, and the fifth of his career, after taking the lead midway through the running on Saturday. 2011 Rally Catalunya
The 2011 Rally Catalunya, formally 47è Rally RACC Catalunya – Costa Daurada and the denoted RACC Rally de España, was the twelfth round of the 2011 World Rally Championship season. The rally took place over 21–23 October, and was based in Salou, Catalonia. The rally was also the eighth and final round of the Super 2000 World Rally Championship, and the sixth round of the Production World Rally Championship. The rally was won by championship leader Sébastien Loeb, who took his fifth victory of the season, and the 67th of his career after taking the lead at the end of the first day's running and held on to extend his championship lead ahead of the final round in Wales. The 2011 Rallye de France – Alsace was the eleventh round of the 2011 World Rally Championship season. The rally took place over 30 September – 2 October, and was based in Strasbourg, the capital city of the Alsace region of France. The rally was also the seventh round of the Super 2000 World Rally Championship, and the fifth round of the WRC Academy. Sébastien Ogier took his fifth WRC win of the season, having taken the rally lead on the second day after battling with Dani Sordo and Petter Solberg. His victory also moved him to within three points of his team-mate and drivers' championship leader Sébastien Loeb, after Loeb's retirement on day one due to an engine problem. 2011 Rally Australia
The 2011 Rally Australia was the 21st Rally Australia and the tenth round of the 2011 World Rally Championship season. The rally took place over 8–11 September, and was based in Coffs Harbour, a coastal city in the New South Wales state of Australia. The rally was also the fifth round of the Production World Rally Championship. Rally Australia returned to the WRC calendar after a year's hiatus, and after demonstrations marred the 2009 running of the rally, held north of Coffs Harbour in the Northern Rivers area. Residents' concerns for the event meant that the rally was moved for the foreseeable future to Coffs Harbour. The 2011 Rallye Deutschland was the ninth round of the 2011 World Rally Championship season. The rally took place over 19–21 August, and was based in Trier, in the Rhineland-Palatinate state of Germany. The rally was also the sixth round of the Super 2000 World Rally Championship, and the fourth round of the WRC Academy. 2011 Rally Finland
The 2011 Rally Finland was the eighth round of the 2011 World Rally Championship season. The rally took place over 28–30 July, and was based in Jyväskylä, with a remote service in Lahti. The rally was also the fifth round of the Super 2000 World Rally Championship, the fourth round of the Production World Rally Championship and the third round of the WRC Academy. Championship leader Sébastien Loeb won for the second time in Finland, taking his 66th career victory in the process, ahead of rivals Jari-Matti Latvala, Sébastien Ogier and Mikko Hirvonen. 2011 Acropolis Rally
The 2011 Acropolis Rally was the seventh round of the 2011 World Rally Championship season. The rally took place over 17–19 June, and was based in Loutraki, outside the country's capital, Athens. The rally was also the fourth round of the Super 2000 World Rally Championship. The Acropolis Rally returned to the WRC calendar for the first time since 2009, after the event was not run in 2010. Sébastien Ogier took his third victory in five starts, having overtaken team-mate Sébastien Loeb on the final day of the event. Ogier's winning margin was 10.5 seconds, with Mikko Hirvonen a further three seconds behind in third place. Juho Hänninen claimed SWRC honours with an overall eighth-place finish. 2011 Rally Argentina
The 2011 Rally Argentina was the sixth round of the 2011 World Rally Championship season. The rally took place over 26–29 May, and was based in Villa Carlos Paz, in the province of Córdoba. The rally was also the third round of the Production World Rally Championship. Argentina returned to the WRC calendar for the first time since 2009, after the event was a part of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge in 2010. Sébastien Loeb took his third win of the season and the 65th WRC win of his career after a come-from-behind victory over the final two days. Having run first on the road on the first day, Loeb trailed Jari-Matti Latvala by 90 seconds after day one, but six stage victories over the final two days helped to recover some of the lost time and ultimately took the rally victory on the final stage. 2011 Rally D'Italia Sardegna
The 2011 Rally Italia Sardegna was the fifth round of the 2011 World Rally Championship season. The rally took place over 6–8 May, and was based in Olbia, the fourth-largest town on the island of Sardinia. The rally was also the third round of the Super 2000 World Rally Championship and the second round of the WRC Academy. Sardinia returned to the WRC calendar for the first time since 2009, after the event was a part of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge in 2010. Sébastien Loeb took his second win of the season and the 64th WRC win of his career after holding off challenges from Mikko Hirvonen and Petter Solberg on the final day of the rally, despite having to run most of the event first on the road and being disadvantaged by sweeping away loose gravel. 2012 World Rally Championship Season
The 2012 World Rally Championship was the 40th season of the FIA World Rally Championship. The season consisted of thirteen rallies, beginning with Monte Carlo Rally on 17 January, and ending on 11 November with Rally Catalunya. Sébastien Loeb won the drivers' championship for the ninth time in his career, ahead of Finns Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala. Citroën won the manufacturers' championship.
