The Braye () is a river of France, and a right tributary of the river Loir. Its source is about west of Authon-du-Perche. The Braye is long, and crosses Savigny-sur-Braye. Among its tributaries are the Grenne, Anille and Tusson. It flows into the Loir near ''Pont-de-Braye'', in Lavenay. Braye Du Valle, Guernsey
The Braye du Valle is the area between the main Island of Guernsey and Le Clos du Valle, which was a tidal island to the north. Origins The original reason for the separation of the north of the Island of Guernsey may relate to seismic disturbances or changes in the sea level. The rise and fall of the tide in Guernsey is over which creates energy to move loose materials. The Braye was open to the sea and the shoreline moves with the waves and the tides. Gravel and sand are deposited onshore, only to be swept back offshore. Storms batter the coast, and tides flood areas on a daily basis. The premiere forces that shapes the coastal landscape, however, are waves. Beaches are not fixed features, they are dynamic environments. At the eastern end an iron age fort, later to become the castle of Saint Michael where in 1117 there was a large ceremony to celebrate the finalisation of major works. Braye Harbour
Braye Harbour (also known as Alderney Harbour) is the main harbour on the north side of the island of Alderney, in the Channel Islands, a dependency of the British Crown. A breakwater was built by the Admiralty to protect the Navy in the 19th century shelters Braye Harbour. The harbour faces out onto the Swinge, which is part of the English Channel, and it is at Braye that most of the island's freight comes in. Braye is more or less a suburb of St Anne, the island capital; the centre of St Anne lies approximately 1 mile from the harbour. The harbour precinct contains harbour facilities, a knitwear factory, a sailing club, toilets, and several places offering food and drink. History The original main harbour at Longis Bay was built in 1736 by Henry Le Mesurier, Governor of Alderney, at his own cost. Anne Brooke, Baroness Cobham ( Braye; 21 March 1501 – 1 November 1558) was the wife of Sir George Brooke, 9th Baron Cobham. She was the attendant horsewoman at Anne Boleyn's coronation as Queen Consort on 1 June 1533, and she was allegedly one of the first accusers of Queen Anne in 1536. Anne Braye was Baroness Cobham from 1529 until her death in 1558. Marriage and issue Anne Braye was born on 21 March 1501 in Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire, England, the eldest daughter of Sir Edmund Braye (circa 1480 – 18 October 1539), who would be created 1st Baron Braye on 4 December 1529 by King Henry VIII of England, and Jane Halliwell (circa 1480 – 24 October 1558). She had a brother, John Braye, 2nd Baron Braye, of whom she was one of his co-heirs, along with her younger sisters, Elizabeth, Frideswide, Mary, Frances, and Dorothy Bray, Baroness Chandos. Edmund Braye, 1st Baron Braye
Edmund Braye, 1st Baron Braye (or Bray; c. 1484 – 18 October 1539), of Eaton Bray in Bedfordshire, was an English peer. Origins He was the son of John Braye lord of the manor of Eaton Bray in Bedfordshire; his younger brother was Sir Edward Braye. He inherited a large portion of the property of his uncle, Sir Reginald Bray, which was confirmed by a deed of settlement made between himself and William Sandys, 1st Baron Sandys and his wife Margery, "in adjustment of a dispute between the parties regarding the lands of the deceased". Career He served as Sheriff of Bedfordshire for 1514 and as Sheriff of Sussex and Surrey in 1522. He was knighted in 1513 and in 1529 he was summoned by writ to the House of Lords as Baron Braye, "of Eaton Bray in the County of Bedford".
