Dina Brawer
Dina Brawer (born Dina Elmaleh) is an Orthodox woman rabbi and the founder of the Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance division in the United Kingdom (JOFA UK). Brawer received her rabbinical ordination at Yeshivat Maharat in the United States and is the first Orthodox woman rabbi to serve in the UK. Brawer's work at JOFA UK focuses on women's rights in Orthodox Judaism and the religious education of adult women in Orthodox communities in the UK. Background Brawer was born and raised in Milan, Italy to a Chabad Hasidic family. After migrating to the United Kingdom, Brawer's education included a B.A. in Hebrew and Jewish Studies from the University of London, an M.A. in Education and Psychology from the Institute of Education, London. Mara Brawer (born 16 May 1962) is an Argentine psychologist and politician, currently serving as National Deputy elected in the Federal Capital since 2019. She had previously served in the same position from 2011 to 2015. A member of the Justicialist Party, Brawer sits in the Frente de Todos bloc. Brawer has also served as Undersecretary of Education in the Government of the Buenos Aires City from 2006 to 2007, and as Undersecretary of Equity and Education Quality in the Ministry of Education of Argentina from 2009 to 2011. Moshe Brawer ( he, משה ברוור‎; 3 November 1919 – 28 December 2020) was an Israeli geographer. In 2002, he won the Israel Prize in geography. Brawer was the author of ''The Atlas of the World,'' an Israeli textbook published in 67 editions. He also compiled 20 other atlases in different languages. Biography Moshe Brawer was born in Vienna, Austria. His grandfather was Rabbi Meir Meirson, one of the leaders of the Vienna Jewish community. His father was Abraham Jacob Brawer, a geographer and historian. His mother Sarah taught French in public schools. The family moved to Jerusalem in 1920, when Brawer was a year old. Brawer studied mathematics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and obtained a PhD in geography from the University of London. His thesis was on the boundaries of Palestine.
