Bravehearts
Bravehearts are an East Coast hip hop group from New York, New York. The group's roster originally included Jungle (born Jabari Jones, son of jazz trumpeter Olu Dara, and younger brother of hip hop star Nas), Wiz (born Mike Epps), and Horse (born E. Gray). Horse left the group in 2002, and Jungle and Wiz carried on as a duo. Wiz was in turn replaced by Nashawn, Nas's cousin. Biography Signed to Columbia Records as part of Nas's Ill Will Records imprint, Bravehearts first emerged in 1998, collaborating with Nas, Nature, and Trackmasters on "I Wanna Live," a song on the soundtrack to the Hype Williams film ''Belly''. From there, the Nas protégés moved on to the ''Nas & Ill Will Records Presents QB's Finest'' compilation album, and saw their track " Oochie Wally" go gold. Nas & Ill Will Records Presents QB's Finest
''Nas & Ill Will Records Presents QB's Finest'', commonly known as simply ''QB's Finest'', is a compilation album released on November 21, 2000 and the second release from rapper Nas' new Ill Will Records imprint, distributed by Columbia Records. It featured Nas and a number of other rappers from the Queensbridge housing projects, including Mobb Deep, Nature, Nashawn, Littles, Bravehearts and Cormega, who had briefly reconciled a longtime feud with Nas. The album also featured guest appearances from Queensbridge's hip hop legends Roxanne Shanté, MC Shan and Marley Marl, both of whom appeared on the lead single "Da Bridge 2001" (based on MC Shan's and Marley Marl's 1986 classic "The Bridge"). "Da Bridge 2001" also featured a response from Nas to Memphis Bleek, in which Nas calls out most of the Roc-A-Fella Records roster, including Memphis Bleek, Damon Dash, Beanie Sigel and Jay-Z. Oochie Wally
Oochie Wally is a collaborative single by American rapper Nas and East Coast hip hop group Bravehearts. It was released on January 6, 2001, by Ill Will Records and Columbia Records as the second single for the compilation album ''Nas & Ill Will Records Presents QB's Finest'' (2000). The song is referenced in Jay-Z's diss song "Takeover". The female vocalist on the hook was later revealed to be Shelene Thomas. Chart performance "Oochie Wally" was a crossover hit in the U.S., peaking at number 26 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Remixes In August 2018, the song's instrumental was used by American rapper J. Bravehearted
''Bravehearted'' is the debut studio album by the American duo the Bravehearts. A group consisting of Nas' brother Jungle and fellow friend Wiz. Commercial performance The album, however, did not sell well due to little promotion, it only came in at number 75 in the Billboard 200 Charts and 20 in the Hip Hop/R&B Charts. Besides Nas releasing an album off his Ill Will Records, Bravehearts were the only other label members to release a record off this label. Singles The album had one single, "Quick to Back Down". The track was produced by Lil Jon and featured Nas and Lil Jon on the track. The chorus had Nas saying quick phrases in distaste for animosity towards anonymous rappers, followed by Lil Jon yelling "quick to back down!" The song was released in 2003, when the beef with Nas and Jay-Z was still brewing. Ill Will Records
Ill Will Records was an American vanity record label founded by Nasir "Nas" Jones. The label was named after Willie "Ill Will" Graham, Nas' childhood neighbor and best friend, who was shot dead on May 23, 1992, when both were teenagers. Nas founded the label in 1999 following the release of "Nastradamus" with the help of Steve Stoute who was the manager of Nas. After signing to Def Jam in 2005, Nas relaunched Ill Will by the name The Jones Experience as an imprint under Def Jam Recordings. Teedra Moses
Teedra Shenita Moses (born December 17, 1976) is an American R&B and soul singer. Early life Moses was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She later moved to Los Angeles with her mother and three siblings after her parents separated. Her childhood has been a direct influence on her musical style, her mother was a gospel singer and she was raised on gospel, jazz, zydeco and blues. Moses recalls wanting to listen to the music that was then being played on the radio, but her mother made her listen to gospel. The final song on her debut album, "I Think of You (Shirley's Song)", is dedicated to her late mother. Olu Dara Jones (born Charles Jones III, January 12, 1941) is an American cornetist, guitarist, and singer. He is the father of rapper Nas. Early life Olu Dara was born Charles Jones III on January 12, 1941 in Natchez, Mississippi. His mother, Ella Mae Jones, was born in Canton, Mississippi. His father, Charles Jones II, was born in Natchez, was a travelling musician, and sang with The Melodiers, a vocal quartet with a guitarist. As a child, Dara took piano and clarinet lessons. ''Belly (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)'' is the soundtrack to Hype Williams' 1998 film ''Belly''. It was released on November 3, 1998, through Def Jam Recordings and featured production from the likes of Poke & Tone, Dame Grease, Sean Combs and Swizz Beatz. The soundtrack was a success, peaking at #5 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and #2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and spawned the single "Grand Finale" by rappers DMX, Ja Rule, Method Man and Nas. The Diplomats
The Diplomats (also known as Dipset) is an American hip hop collective formed in 1997 by childhood friends Cam'ron and Jim Jones in Harlem, New York. The group was originally composed of Cam'ron, Jim Jones and Freekey Zekey, all of whom grew up together in Harlem. In 1999, fellow Harlem-based rapper Juelz Santana joined the group. In 2001, following Cam'ron's signing, the group secured a recording contract with Roc-A-Fella Records.
