''Brath'' was an American comic book published by CrossGen Entertainment from February 2003 to June 2004. It ran for 15 issues (including the prequel) before the series had to end due to bankruptcy of CrossGen in 2004. The series was written by Chuck Dixon, and penciled by Andrea Di Vito. Brath was set in the fictional world of Hann Jin, which has also been seen in other CrossGen titles such as ''Way of the Rat'' and '' The Path''. Dixon and DiVito researched various parts of history when writing ''Brath''. As such, much of Brath's diegesis is akin to films like ''Gladiator'' and ''Braveheart''. Setting In the world of Hann Jinn, emperor Quintillius Aurelius Galba Rex rules his empire with an iron will. The lands of the empire stretch from the deserts of Bythium to the cold wastes of the Tandar Steppe. Chuck Dixon
Charles Dixon (born April 14, 1954) is an American comic book writer, best known for his work on the Marvel Comics character the Punisher and on the DC Comics characters Batman, Nightwing, and Robin in the 1990s and early 2000s. Early life Dixon was born in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Upper Darby, reading comics of all genres. He is a graduate of Upper Darby High School (1972). Career 1980s Chuck Dixon's earliest comics work was writing ''Evangeline'' for Comico Comics in 1984 and then for First Comics. Editor Larry Hama hired him to write back-up stories for Marvel Comics' '' Savage Sword of Conan''. Andrea Di Vito
Andrea Di Vito (born May 28, 1971) is an Italian comic book artist. Biography Di Vito was born in Rome, and showed a love for drawing from an early age. His first published work appeared in the form of two short stories in the Italian magazine ''Intrepido''. He was first published in America in Marvel Comics' ''Marvel Shadows and Light'', with one of his pinups appearing in the comic book. Di Vito was asked to join the CrossGen staff as an associate penciller and became a fill-in artist for the comic books ''The First'' and ''Scion'', becoming the official penciller of the former six months later. On getting his start in comics, Di Vito said, "After years of attempts, I went to San Diego Comic-Con, back in 2000. It was my last shot at finding a gig as a comic book artist. ''Way of the Rat'' is an American comic book series published by CrossGen Entertainment in wuxia sub-genre of martial arts adventure. Written by Chuck Dixon, with artwork by Jeff Johnson and Tom Ryder, the series ran for a total of twenty-four issues before its publication was stopped due to CrossGen's bankruptcy. The series is set in CrossGen's Sigilverse shared universe in the Empire of Shinacea, on the planet Hann Jinn. Negation War (comics)
''Negation War'' was a comic book series published by CrossGen Comics, and serving as a culmination of the metaplots of nearly all of CrossGen's other titles. It was cancelled after only two issues, in spring 2004, before the company declared bankruptcy and ended production on all their titles. It was intended to answer many, if not all, of the questions surrounding CrossGen's metaplot, allowing the company to move on to new titles and perhaps a new company-wide metaplot. Enrique Alcatena (born 26 February 1957) is an Argentine comic book artist. He is known as Quique Alcatena in his native country and Latin America. Biography A self-taught artist, Alcatena began his career in the 1970s as assistant of Chiche Medrano, working for Argentine publisher Ediciones Récord; his first signed work appeared in the magazine ''Pif Pif'' in 1976. An American comic book is a thin periodical originating in the United States, on average 32 pages, containing comics. While the form originated in 1933, American comic books first gained popularity after the 1938 publication of ''Action Comics'', which included the debut of the superhero Superman. Mark Alessi
Mark Albert Alessi (August 28, 1953 – March 29, 2019) was an American businessman who was the CEO of a number of companies, most notably as the founder of comic publisher CrossGen where he created a number of the titles. Biography Alessi's first major company was Technical Resource Connection, Inc, which he founded in 1986. He was CEO of this company until 1996, at which time the company was sold to Perot Systems Corporation. He later, in 1998, became founder and publisher of CrossGen comics, which subsequently liquidated in 2004 and the company and its assets were sold to Disney. He then became the CEO of TOA Solutions, Inc, a company that he founded in 2004. He died of a sudden massive coronary arrest on March 29, 2019, at the age of 65.
