''Brasil'' is the fourth album by crossover thrash band Ratos de Porão, which was released in 1989 through Roadrunner Records. Considered by many fans the masterpiece of Ratos' discography, this record was the passport to the world scene. It was recorded in Berlin, and produced by Harris Johns, who produced bands such Tankard and Exumer. This can be considered as a true crossover album, mixing hardcore and metal. Ratos De Porão
Ratos de Porão (Portuguese for "Basement Rats") is a Brazilian crossover thrash band from São Paulo. They were formed in 1981, toured South America, North America, Asia and Europe, and still continue to play today. Their core lineup of João Gordo on vocals and Jão on drums and later guitars has remained since virtually the band's beginning. History Early days Ratos de Porão, or simply "RxDxPx", was formed in November 1981, existing in the Brazilian (São Paulo city) punk rock scene (alongside bands such as Olho Seco, Cólera, Inocentes, Garotos Podres, and Lobotomia). Roadrunner Records is an American record label focused on heavy metal and hard rock bands. Founded in the Netherlands in 1980, it is now a division of Warner Music Group and is based in New York City. History The label was launched in 1980 in the Netherlands. Harris Johns
Harris Johns is a European music producer, active since the late-1970s in the heavy metal and punk scene, working for a lot of big-name bands, such as Helloween, Coroner, Tankard, Sodom, Voivod, Kreator, Exumer, Ratos de Porão, Slime, Daily Terror and many others. Most of his productions were recorded at his studio Music Lab Berlin Studio. After 10 years recording in a former guest house in the countryside near Berlin, which he called Spiderhouse, he reopened the Music Lab Berlin in 2007 and gave it up 2016. He is still producing and teaching music production skills. CADA (call sign: 2ONE) is a music radio station based in outer Sydney, Australia, but licensed to Katoomba. It is operated by the Australian Radio Network. History CADA, formerly known as The Edge, is an Australian radio station licensed to Katoomba, New South Wales, and serving the Blue Mountains area of western Sydney. Anarkophobia
''Anarkophobia'' is the fifth studio album by the Brazilian band, Ratos de Porão, simply known as RxDxPx. Although a hardcore punk band in its early days, since the previous album RDP had been adding new influences, and ''Anarkophobia'' falls much more into the crossover thrash genre. It was released in 1991 by Roadrunner Records and follows the band's breakthrough record from 1989, ''Brasil (Ratos de Porão album), Brasil''. Like its predecessor, it was recorded in Berlin, Germany, and was produced by Harris Johns. Tankard (band)
Tankard is a German thrash metal band from Frankfurt, founded in 1982. Alongside Kreator, Destruction and Sodom, Tankard is often considered one of the "Big Four" of Teutonic thrash metal. Stylistically, Tankard have consistently played thrash metal that thematically centres primarily on alcohol reverence, unlike the remaining "Big Teutonic Four" (Kreator, Destruction and Sodom), who are all known for covering such topics related to death, politics, violence and anti-fascism. Exumer
Exumer is a German thrash metal band formed in Wiesbaden in 1985 by singer/bassist Mem V. Stein and guitarist Ray Mensh. The band broke up in 1991 after two demos and two albums. Exumer appeared for a one-off show at Wacken Open Air in 2001 and were reactivated by V. Stein and Mensh in 2008. History Their first album, '' Possessed by Fire'', is musically in the same vein as ''Into the Dark Past'' by the then-labelmates of Angel Dust. The second album ''Rising from the Sea'' is more influenced by Slayer due to the voice of Paul Arakaki, which is similar to that of Tom Araya. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States.
