Brannon Kidder
Brannon Kidder (born November 18, 1993) is an American middle-distance runner. In 2017, he won the gold medal in the men's 4 × 800 metres relay at the 2017 IAAF World Relays held in Nassau, Bahamas. In 2019, he represented the United States in The Match Europe v USA where he won the bronze medal in the mixed 1600 metres medley relay event and he finished in 5th place in the men's 800 metres event. The Match Europe V USA
The Match Europe v USA was an international two-day outdoor track and field competition between the United States and Europe. It took place 9–10 September 2019 in Minsk, Belarus, three weeks prior to the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar, a few days after the conclusion of the 2019 Diamond League and three months after the 2019 European Games. Team Europe won the Match, defeating Team USA by 724½ to 601½. Creation of the Match The match was agreed between European Athletics and USA Track & Field in December 2018 and marked the first international match between the two since the 1960s. The men's 800 metres at the 2019 World Athletics Championships was held at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha from 28 September to 1 October 2019. Summary After the semi-finals, it was no surprise when front runner Wesley Vázquez went to the front of the final. Donavan Brazier and Marco Arop took the front of the line to follow his pace. 23.51 for the first 200 metres is fast. Down the first home stretch the rest of the field back off the fast pace, but Brazier stuck right behind Vázquez through a 48.96 first lap. The real surprise was noted kicker Amel Tuka was at the front of the chase pack, separating through the penultimate turn in chase of the leaders. When they hit the backstretch, Brazier went around Vázquez, who was showing the signs of the strain. By 600 metres in 1:15.16, Brazier had two metres on Vázquez, who had two metres on Tuka. The 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships () was the seventeenth edition of the biennial, global athletics competition organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), since renamed World Athletics. It was held between 27 September and 6 October 2019 in Doha, Qatar, at the renovated multi-purpose Khalifa International Stadium, but reduced to 21,000 available seats. 1,772 athletes from 206 teams competed in 49 athletics events over the ten-day competition, comprising 24 events each for men and women, plus a mixed relay.
