Brandon University Students' Union
The Brandon University Students' Union (BUSU) represents undergraduate, graduate, and distance students at Brandon University (BU) in Manitoba, Canada. BUSU is a not-for-profit organization that represents 3,375 (2020) students. BUSU was incorporated in 1969, and joined the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) as Local 37 in 1984. BUSU hosts a variety of events such as speakers, socials, and free food giveaways as well as organizing orientation events at the beginning of each September and January. BUSU is contracted by the Knowles-Douglas Commission to maintain the day-to-day operations of the Knowles-Douglas Centre, which includes the campus bookstore, Forbidden Flavors, and The Quill as tenants. Brandon University
Brandon University is a university located in the city of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, with an enrollment of 3375 (2020) full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students. The current location was founded on July 13, 1899, as Brandon College as a Baptist institution. It was chartered as a university by then President John E. Robbins on June 5, 1967. The enabling legislation is the Brandon University Act. Brandon University is one of several predominantly undergraduate liberal arts and sciences institutions in Canada. The Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) is the largest student organization in Canada, representing over 530,000 students from across Canada. Formed in 1981, the stated goal of the Federation is to represent the collective voice of Canadian students and work at the federal level for high quality, accessible post-secondary education. Brandon Transit is the municipally operated bus service in Brandon; the second largest city in the province of Manitoba, Canada. Ridership in 2017 was over 1,000,000 passengers or 19,500 per week. Prior to the realignment of routes, the Victoria East and Richmond West had the highest ridership. ''The Quill'' is the official student newspaper of Brandon University in Brandon, Manitoba, first published in December 1910, making it one of the oldest student newspapers in Canada. Overview and history ''The Quill'' was first published in 1910, and is the second oldest student newspaper in western Canada ('' The Gateway'' at The University of Alberta is older by two months). Stan Struthers
Stan Struthers (born 1959) is a Manitoba politician and a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba for the New Democratic Party (NDP).
