Brandon Allen (soccer)
Brandon Allen (born October 8, 1993) is an American association football, soccer player who currently plays as a Forward (association football), forward. Allen is the younger brother of soccer player R. J. Allen. Early career Allen attended St. Joseph High School (Metuchen, New Jersey), St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, NJ where he scored 118 goals throughout his four-year varsity career. During his time in high school he was also a member of the New York Red Bulls Academy, New York Red Bulls' academy program where he scored 28 goals during the 2010–2011 season followed by 27 goals in 2011–2012. During his tenure at Georgetown University, Georgetown, Allen was a standout player where he earned All-American honors three times and was named as a finalist for the Hermann Trophy in 2015. New York Red Bulls Academy
The New York Red Bulls Academy is the multi-layered youth system of the New York Red Bulls. It is the first cost-free program in Major League Soccer that provides a professional soccer training environment for youth players in the New York Tri-State. The soccer programs are operated as part of a global approach to player development. Through a partnership with Southern New Hampshire University, players are able to pursue their education while continuing to play professionally. There are several levels which make up the pyramid. Orlando City B (or OCB for short) is an American soccer club that began play in 2016 and currently plays in MLS Next Pro. 2016 USL Playoffs
The 2016 USL Playoffs is a postseason tournament following the 2016 United Soccer League regular season, the second since the league rebranded for the 2015 season. Including USL Pro history, it is the fifth postseason tournament. The tournament began on September 30 and will last until October 23. Sixteen teams (top 8 per conference) will compete, up from 12 last season, in the single elimination tournament. Teams will be seeded one through eight in each conference. The conference semifinal winners will play against each other in the Conference Championship, which will serve as the overall semifinals for the playoff. Homegrown Player Rule (Major League Soccer)
The Homegrown Player Rule is a Major League Soccer program that allows MLS teams to sign local players from their own development academies directly to MLS first team rosters. Before the creation of the rule in 2008, every player entering Major League Soccer would have to be assigned through one of the existing MLS player allocation processes, such as the MLS SuperDraft. MLS roster rules allow a team to sign players to contracts similar to Generation adidas contracts, which do not count against the MLS salary budget and may earn a much higher salary than the league minimum. MLS has since removed this wording from the roster rules.
