Branden Dozier
Branden Dozier (born November 28, 1993) is an American gridiron football defensive back for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football with the UNC-Charlotte 49ers. Early life and college career Dozier played running back and defensive back at Washburn Rural High School, where he earned All-City honors before graduating in 2012. He then played at Butler County Community College, where he garnered all- Kansas Jayhawk honors as a defensive back. While at UNC Charlotte, he set a single-season tackle record. Professional career Dozier attended a Pittsburgh Steelers rookie mini-camp in 2016 but was not offered a contract. Montreal Alouettes After sitting out a year to complete his studies, he reached out to a member of the Montreal Alouettes front office, did a private workout, and was promptly signed to his first pro contract. In gridiron football, defensive backs (DBs), also called the secondary, are the players on the defensive side of the ball who play farthest back from the line of scrimmage. They are distinguished from the other two sets of defensive players, the defensive linemen who play directly on the line of scrimmage, and the linebackers, who play in the middle of the defense, between the defensive line and the defensive backs. Among the defensive backs, there are two main types, cornerbacks, which play nearer the line of scrimmage and the sideline, whose main role is to cover the opposing team's wide receivers, and the Safety (gridiron football position), safeties, who play further back near the center of the field, and who act as the last line of defense. 2018 CFL Season
The 2018 CFL season was the 65th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it was the 61st Canadian Football League season. Edmonton hosted the 106th Grey Cup on November 25, 2018. The CFL announced that this season will move to a 21-week regular season (previously a 20-week season) to increase player rest time and reduce short turnaround-times for games. Given the change, the regular season began on June 14, 2018, one week earlier than usual, and concluded on November 3, 2018. CFL News in 2018 Salary cap According to the new collective bargaining agreement, the 2018 salary cap will be set at $5,200,000 (average of $113,043 per active roster spot).
