Brampton Stallions
Brampton Stallions were a Canadian soccer team, founded in 2001 as the Brampton Hitmen before changing its name in 2005. The team was a member of the Canadian Soccer League and played in the National Division. The Stallions played their home games at Victoria Park Stadium in the city of Brampton, Ontario, around 25 miles west of downtown Toronto. The team's colours were black and white. The club struggled during its infant stages failing to make the postseason during its first two seasons. Until finally capturing the CPSL Championship in 2003, and ending as playoff contender during its final tenure within the league. Paulo Silva (soccer)
Paulo Silva (born May 24, 1966) is a former Brazilian footballer and manager who played in Brazil, Canada, and served on the coaching staff with the Toronto Lynx in the USL A-League. Club career Silva played in the Campeonato Mineiro with Cruzeiro in 1984, and later signed with Democrata Futebol Clube in 1987. He was awarded the Best Player Award in 1987, and was selected State All-Star Goalkeeper. In 1990, Silva went overseas to Canada to sign with the Scarborough Astros of the Canadian National Soccer League. During his tenure with the Astros he was awarded the CNSL Goalkeeper of the Year within three years from 1990, 1991, and 1993. In 1995, he helped Scarborough finish first in the League Cup standings, and reached the cup finals but lost the title to St. Catharines Wolves in a penalty shootout. Vaughan Sun Devils
The Glen Shields Sun Devils were a soccer team which played in the Canadian Soccer League, Canadian Professional Soccer League from 1998–2002. They played their home matches in Thornhill, Ontario. The franchise was one of the original teams of the CPSL. Originally founded as a youth soccer club, the youth club still continues to operate, now known as Glen Shields FC. The team was founded in 1982 and was originally known as Glen Shields Soccer Club. Hugo Herrera (born March 1, 1979 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an Argentine former association football forward who had stints in South America, and most notably in the Canadian Soccer League with the Brampton Stallions and Toronto Croatia. During his tenure within the CSL he won three CSL Championships and two Croatian World Club Championship. The Open Canada Cup was an annual knock-out cup competition in Canadian Soccer. The competition was first held during the 1998 season as the CPSL League Cup. It was organized by the Canadian Soccer League (formerly the Canadian Professional Soccer League) originally as a League Cup for CSL member clubs. After operating the competition for several seasons as an exclusive tournament the league's ownership decided in 2003 to grant accessibility to all Canadian professional and amateur clubs. Luca Centurione is an Italian former footballer who played the majority of his career in North America. Playing career Centurione began his career with Toronto Italia of the Canadian National Soccer League in 1996. He made his debut on June 23, 1996 against the Toronto Supra in a 1-1 draw. A week after he recorded his first two goals for the club on June 30, 1996 in a match against Oakville Canadian Westerns in 3-1 victory. Paolo Ceccarelli
Paolo Ceccarelli (born October 12, 1969) is a Canadian retired soccer player who played as a goalkeeper. He was the 1996 A-League Goalkeeper of the Year. Club Ceccarelli played for the Toronto Jets during his youth. In September 1987, he signed with Dunfermline Athletic after the coaching staff noticed Ceccarelli when Dunfermline played an exhibition game against the Jets.
