Brampton City United
Brampton City United FC is a Canadian soccer team, founded in 2002. The team plays in the Lika Supergroup Open Division. The club plays out of Victoria Park Stadium in the community of Brampton, Ontario. The Metro Lions were the second club from Scarborough, Toronto to join the Canadian Professional Soccer League in 2002. In their debut season, the team was an instant threat to the established clubs in the league finishing runners up in their division, and reaching the semi-finals in the postseason. The Lions struggled in their sophomore season, but rebounded the following season. In 2005, the organization merged with the Oakville Soccer Club and Oakville Premier Soccer Academy which resulted in the relocation to Oakville, Ontario under the name Oakville Blue Devils. Open Canada Cup
The Open Canada Cup was an annual knock-out cup competition in Canadian Soccer. The competition was first held during the 1998 season as the CPSL League Cup. It was organized by the Canadian Soccer League (formerly the Canadian Professional Soccer League) originally as a League Cup for CSL member clubs. After operating the competition for several seasons as an exclusive tournament the league's ownership decided in 2003 to grant accessibility to all Canadian professional and amateur clubs. Phil Ionadi
Phil Ionadi is a Canadian businessman, soccer executive, former soccer player, head coach, and the general manager for the Canadian Arena Soccer Association. He initially began playing college soccer abroad with Belhaven University. After a series of stints in the Canadian National Soccer League he eventually played in the USL A-League in 1998 with the Toronto Lynx, and later with the Montreal Impact. Shortly after he played in the Canadian Professional Soccer League, and began playing indoor soccer in 1999 in the National Professional Soccer League with the Montreal Impact. After his release from Montreal he played with several clubs in the National Professional Soccer League, and in 2002 returned to the CPSL with the Brampton Hitmen. Sergio De Luca
Sergio De Luca (born September 8, 1982) is a Canadian professional soccer coach and former player. De Luca began his career abroad in Europe, before returning to North America where he had several stints in the USL A-League, Canadian Professional Soccer League and USL Premier Development League. He would later return to Europe to have stints in Hungary, Norway, and Germany before concluding his career primarily in the Canadian Soccer League. Aaron Steele (born 4 February 1983) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender in the Canadian Professional Soccer League, USL A-League, and Premier Development League. Darren Baxter (born 26 October 1981) is an English former professional footballer. Playing career Baxter was born in Brighton and began his football career as a trainee with Chelsea. Duncan Wilde is an English soccer manager who is currently the manager of Blue Devils FC in League1 Ontario. Toronto Lynx was a Canadian soccer team based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1997, the team last played in the 2014 season of the Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the Great Lakes Division of the Central Conference. The team played its home games at Centennial Park Stadium, where they had played since 2003. The team's colours were white, gold and black. 2005 Canadian Professional Soccer League Season
The 2005 Canadian Professional Soccer League season was the 8th season for the Canadian Professional Soccer League. The season began on May 21, 2005 and concluded on October 10, 2005 with Oakville Blue Devils defeating Vaughan Shooters 2-1 to win their first CPSL Championship. The final was played at Esther Shiner Stadium, which gave North York Astros a playoff wildcard match. In the regular season the Vaughan Shooters won their first Eastern Conference title, while Hamilton Thunder secured their third Western Conference title.
