Braintree Sixth Form
Braintree Sixth Form is a school Sixth Form centre for educating 16- to 19-year-olds in Braintree, Essex, England. It is located approximately 15 miles east of Stansted Airport in north Essex. Up until 1981 post 16 education in Braintree took place in Sixth Forms located in each of the town's schools. In 1981 Essex County Council closed the separate Sixth Forms at the Schools in Braintree and moved post 16 education to a new purpose-built FE (Further Education) college, Braintree College, later becoming part of the Colchester Institute. The opening of Braintree Sixth Form in 2009 marked a return to school-based Sixth Form education in Braintree. Technology College
In the United Kingdom, a Technology College is a specialist school that specialises in design and technology, mathematics and science. Beginning in 1994, they were the first specialist schools that were not CTC colleges. In 2008, there were 598 Technology Colleges in England, of which 12 also specialised in another subject. History The Education Reform Act 1988 made technology mandatory, however the Conservative government were unable to afford the cost of funding schools to teach the subject. Honywood Community Science School
Honywood Community Science School is a secondary school in Coggeshall, Essex, England. It was first opened in 1964 and became Honywood School catering for 11–16 year olds. The average on roll is around 1100 learners. Tablet computers In May 2011 the school announced that each pupil was to be given their own iPad 2 tablet to help with their studies, at the cost of £500,000. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two-year educational programme primarily aimed at 16-to-19-year-olds in 140 countries around the world. Alec Hunter Academy (formerly The Alec Hunter County Secondary School for Boys and Girls, Alec Hunter Comprehensive School, Alec Hunter High School and Alec Hunter Humanities College) is a secondary school with academy status located in East Braintree, Essex, England. Braintree is a town and former civil parish in Essex, England. The principal settlement of Braintree District, it is located northeast of Chelmsford and west of Colchester. According to the 2011 Census, the town had a population of 41,634, while the urban area, which includes Great Notley, Rayne and High Garrett, had a population of 53,477. Braintree has grown contiguously with several surrounding settlements. Braintree proper lies on the River Brain and to the south of Stane Street, the Roman road from Braughing to Colchester, while Bocking lies on the River Blackwater and to the north of the road.
