J9 Series
The is a trilogy of Japanese Super Robot mecha anime television series. The anime were broadcast by TV Tokyo (TX Network) from 1981 to 1984, the 80's trilogy was produced and animated by Kokusai Eiga-sha (Movie International Company). In 2014, a fourth series was announced to be in production for a 2016 release, with the original creative and production team reunited after 30 years. However the project was cancelled in 2019 following the death of its intended showrunner, Yu Yamamoto. Shared concept Each of the anime broadcast featured a team of robot pilots variably known as "J9" whose role changed from series to series. Each was also advertised as being the "robot anime version" of another popular fictional motif. Kokusai Eiga-sha
, also known as Movie International Company Ltd. (MIC), was a former Japanese animation production company known for the ''J9 Series''. It was originally established in 1974 by Tsubota as Shigezu Ukuda founded as a video distribution company. It began producing animation in 1979. Enoki Films in the United States currently holds the American license to most of Kokusai Eiga's works. The company still exists today without producing anything else but the intellectual rights of its series. Kazuo Komatsubara
was a Japanese animator, animation director and character designer born in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. He worked as an independently contracted character designer for Toei Animation in the 1970s and 1980s. He was a member of the board of directors of animation studio Oh! Production (which he helped found along with Norio Shioyama, Kōichi Murata, and Kōshin Yonekawa). He died on March 24, 2000 due to a cancerous tumor on his neck. is a mecha anime series that aired from 1982 to 1983 in Japan. There were 39 episodes released. Other loosely translated names include ''Baxinger'', ''Galaxy Gale Baxingar'', ''Galactic Stormwind Baxingar'' and ''Cosmo Rangers''. In addition, it was known as "Mustanger" while sold as a knock-off toy in the United States during the early 80's. Kaneto Shiozawa
Toshikazu Shiozawa ( ja, 塩沢 敏一, Shiozawa Toshikazu, January 28, 1954 – May 10, 2000), better known by the stage name Kaneto Shiozawa ( ja, 塩沢 兼人, Shiozawa Kaneto), was a Japanese actor, voice actor and narrator from Tokyo. At the time of his death, he was attached to Aoni Production. He had a distinctive calm, aristocratic-sounding voice, which often typecast him as villainous or anti-heroic strategists and intellectuals. His stage name originated from the Japanese director Kaneto Shindō. Life and career Shiozawa graduated from Nihon University Second Senior High School, where he learned to perform in its art department. On May 9, 2000, at 4pm, Shiozawa fell down the stairs of his home in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Other loosely translated names include ''Sasuryger'', ''Sasreiger'', ''Galaxy Whirlwind Sasuraiger'' and ''Wonder Six''. It is the sequel to '' Galactic Gale Baxingar'' and the final entry of the J9 Series. The original concept was adopted from the novel '' Around the World in Eighty Days''.
