Brad Daugherty (poker Player)
Brad Daugherty (born July 5, 1951 in Mountain Grove, Missouri) is a professional poker player. Daugherty began playing poker in 1969 on a high school trip. Following high school he worked in the construction industry, but after hearing of large prize money for tournament winnings, in 1978 he moved to Reno, Nevada. In 1987 he won his first tournament. He was awarded the first ever million-dollar first-place prize at the World Series of Poker when he won the bracelet in the 1991 Main Event, and finished in ninth place in 1993. As of 2009, his total live tournament winnings exceed $1,700,000. His 19 cashes as the WSOP account for $1,158,574 of those winnings. Daugherty is the co-author with Tom McEvoy of ''Championship Satellite Strategy'' and ''No-Limit Texas Hold'em for New Players''. 2009 World Series Of Poker
The 2009 World Series of Poker was the 40th annual World Series of Poker (WSOP). It was held at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and ran from May 27 to July 15. There were 57 bracelet events, culminating in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event. The "November Nine" concept returned for the second year, with the finalists of the Main Event returning to finish the tournament on November 7. Event schedule Main Event The $10,000 World Championship No Limit Texas Hold 'em Main Event began on July 3 with the first of four starting days. There were 6,494 total entries. Mountain Grove, Missouri
Mountain Grove is a city in Wright County and Texas County in the U.S. state of Missouri. It lies within the Ozarks in the south-central part of the state. The population was 4,313 at the 2020 census. History A post office called Mountain Grove has been in operation since 1875. The community owes its present name to a stand of trees near the original elevated town site. In 1841 a settlement was built on land east of Mountain Grove near a spring in a grove of hickory timber. A post office was established in Hickory Spring in 1853. The post office, in 1878, was named for Judge Robert W. Fyan, a prominent figure in early county history. In 1859, a general store was built at the crossroads about one mile west of Hickory Spring. The old post office established under the name of Fyan before the Civil War changed to Mountain Grove, with reference to its location on a ridge in a grove of trees, in 1878. Tom McEvoy
Thomas K. McEvoy (born November 14, 1944, in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is a professional poker player, author and member of the Poker Hall of Fame, 2013 inductee. He is best known for winning the 1983 World Series of Poker Main Event. Early life McEvoy was born and raised in Michigan. He was an accountant, but after he was laid off from his job, he took up poker full-time in 1978. He first learned to play poker when he was five years old and would regularly get in trouble for playing it in grade school. Poker career McEvoy's first cash in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) came in 1982 when he finished 6th in the $1,000 Razz event.
