Brabham, Western Australia
Brabham is a suburb located about north-east of Perth's central business district. The suburb is located in the City of Swan just south of Henley Brook, formerly being a part of that suburb before it was gazetted in May 2011. The suburb was named after Australian motor racing personality Sir Jack Brabham who competed in the 1962 Australian Grand Prix, held at the nearby Caversham Airfield. The suburb is part of the City of Swan's urban growth corridor and is bordered by Park Street to the north, Murray Street to the east, Harrow Street to the south and Drumpellier Drive and Isoondon Street to the west. It is located in the Whiteman Ward of the City of Swan. Caversham Airfield Caversham Airfield was constructed by the US military to be used as a base for bomber aircraft during the later stages of World War II. Shalom House
Shalom House is an unaccredited men-only Christian faith-based drug rehabilitation facility located in the Swan Valley about 23 kilometres north of Perth in Western Australia. Operating since 2012, it claims to be the strictest rehabilitation centre in Australia and utilises an ineffectual tough love model to treat residents. While they have stated they are the most successful rehabilitation centre in Australia, they do not track statistics relating to the success rate of the program and rely on anecdotal evidence to support their claim. Publicly available information indicates the success rate of the program is less than 5 per cent. The 1962 Australian Grand Prix was a motor race for Formula Libre cars, held at the Caversham circuit in Western Australia, Australia on 18 November 1962. It was the twenty seventh Australian Grand Prix and the sixth and final race in the 1962 Australian Drivers' Championship. Wanneroo Raceway
Wanneroo Raceway, currently known as CARCO.com.au Raceway for naming rights reasons, is a motorsport circuit located in Neerabup, approximately north of Perth in Western Australia. It was built by the WA Sporting Car Club. The circuit was originally known as Wanneroo Park and the first race meet took place in March 1969. Initially the major race per year was a 6-hour Le Mans style race for sedans and sports cars known as the Six Hour Le Mans. However, as interest dulled in that event, production car racing took over as the major race type. In 1979, the Australian Grand Prix was held for the first and so far only time at Wanneroo Raceway which coincided with the opening of the new pits and paddock area to the west of the circuit. Caversham Airfield
Caversham Airfield, also known as Middle Swan Airfield was an airfield constructed at Caversham, Western Australia during World War II as a parent aerodrome for use by the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm and the United States Navy. The airfield had a triangle of three landing strips. Sir John Arthur Brabham (2 April 1926 – 19 May 2014) was an Australian racing driver who was Formula One World Champion in , , and . He was a founder of the Brabham racing team and race car constructor that bore his name. Brabham was a Royal Australian Air Force flight mechanic and ran a small engineering workshop before he started racing midget cars in 1948. His successes with midgets in Australian and New Zealand road racing events led to his going to Britain to further his racing career.
