Brabazon Baronets
The Brabazon Baronetcy, of Newpark in the County of Mayo, was a title in the Baronetage of Ireland. It was created on 16 December 1797 for Anthony Brabazon. He was the eldest son and heir of George Brabazon, of New Park in County Mayo, fourth in descent from Sir Anthony Brabazon of Ballinasloe Castle, younger brother of Edward Brabazon, 1st Baron Ardee, ancestor of the Earls of Meath. His son, the second Baronet, represented County Mayo in Parliament. The title became extinct on his death in 1840. Brabazon Park was eventually inherited by Hugh Brabazon Higgins, only son of Luke Higgins of Castlebar by his second wife Catherine, sister of Sir Anthony Brabazon. He was a Captain in the 15th Hussars, and adopted the surname of Brabazon by royal licence of 15 September 1852. He died in 1864, leaving issue. Baron Brabazon of Hill of Tara, Tara, of Sandwich, Kent, Sandwich in the County of Kent, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 27 April 1942 for the aviation pioneer and Conservative Party (UK), Conservative politician John Moore-Brabazon, 1st Baron Brabazon of Tara, John Moore-Brabazon. Moore-Brabazon was a descendant through a female line of Edward Brabazon, 7th Earl of Meath, The 7th Earl of Meath. His father, Major (British Army and Royal Marines), Major John Arthur Henry Moore, had assumed the additional surname of Brabazon in 1866 by Royal Licence. the title is held by the first Baron's grandson, the third Baron, who succeeded his father in 1974. Swinford
Swinford () is a town in County Mayo, Ireland. It is surrounded by a number of smaller villages, including Midfield and Meelick. It is just off the N5 road, located 18 km (11 mi) from Ireland West Airport Knock (formerly known as Knock International Airport). Situated on a tributary of the River Moy, Swinford is known for its fishing waters, including the Callow lakes and the lakes of Conn and Cullin. Swinford was bypassed in 1993 by the N5 route and was the first town in Mayo to be bypassed. Etymology The origins of the name "Swinford" are disputed. Hercules Brabazon Brabazon (born Hercules Brabazon Sharpe; 27 November 1821 – 14 May 1906) was an English artist, accomplished in Turner-manner watercolours. Life and work Brabazon was the younger son of Hercules Sharpe and his wife, Anne Mary, the daughter of Sir Anthony Brabazon, 1st Bt. Initially raised in Paris, he moved with his family to Oaklands, an estate near Sedlescombe, East Sussex, in 1832. He attended Harrow School, the École Privat, Geneva, and Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating with a B.A. in mathematics in 1844. His father then wanted him to study law, but instead he left England and went to Rome to study music and art, enrolling at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and Accademia di San Luca. His father attempted to make him return by reducing his allowance, but in 1847, upon the death of his elder brother, he gained financial independence when he inherited family estates in Connaught, the will requiring that he change his surname to Brabazon. Westfield, East Sussex
Westfield is a village and civil parish in the Rother district of East Sussex. It is one of the largest villages in the area with a population of around 2,750. The village lies five miles (8 km) north of Hastings. It was known as Westewelle in the Domesday survey. The parish includes the linear hamlet of Kent Street along the A21 road. This spans 800 yards from Carpenter's Barn Farm at the southern end past Claverton Country House Hotel up to Sedlescombe Golf Club at the northern end. A prominent sight when entering the village from the south is the church, dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Its many features include extensive buttressing, a 12th-century porch and a 14th-century font with an elaborate 17th-century cover. Above the door to the tower there is carved a Royal Coat of Arms with the list of vicars since 1250 set below. Sir Capel Molyneux, 3rd Baronet PC (Ire) (1717 – August 1797) was an Irish politician. Early life Capel was the son of Sir Thomas Molyneux, 1st Baronet and his second wife Catherine Howard, daughter of Professor Ralph Howard. In 1738 he succeeded his brother Daniel to the title of Baronet and to all the family estates except Castle Dillon, which he did not inherit until 1759, when the former wife of his late first cousin died. Capel graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1737 and received an honorary LLD in 1768. Career He was appointed High Sheriff of Armagh in 1744 and sat for Clogher in the Irish House of Commons from 1761 to 1768. Dominick Burke or Bourke (died 8 December 1747) was an Irish politician from County Galway.
