Boxed (Eurythmics)
''Boxed'' is a box set by the British pop duo Eurythmics. It was released on 14 November 2005 by RCA Records and contains eight digitally remastered albums including 43 bonus tracks. Many of the bonus tracks have originally appeared as B-sides and extra tracks on various single releases (although the selection was not exhaustive). A selection of cover versions, recorded by Eurythmics for the aborted "TV Planet" project, are also included. Box Set
A box set or (its original name) boxed set is a set of items (for example, a compilation of books, musical recordings, films or television programs) traditionally packaged in a box and offered for sale as a single unit. Music Artists and bands with an extremely long and successful career often have anthology or "essential" collections of their boxes of music released as box sets. These often include rare and never-before-released tracks. Some box sets collect previously released boxes of singles or albums by a music artist, and often collect the complete discography of an artist such as Pink Floyd's ''Oh, by the Way'' and ''Discovery'' sets. ''Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)'' is the second studio album by British pop duo Eurythmics, released on 4 January 1983 by RCA Records. Background and release Release and popularity After a year and a half of initial commercial failure for Eurythmics, this album became a breakthrough for the duo on both sides of the Atlantic. The title track became particularly popular and remains one of Eurythmics' most recognisable songs. Its music video, popular on MTV in the United States, is memorable for Annie Lennox's gender-bending imagery. "Belinda" is a 1981 music recording by the British new wave duo Eurythmics. It was the band's second single, and the second of two singles to be taken from their debut album '' In the Garden''. Background The single, which was released only in the UK, was not a commercial success and failed to chart. No music video was made for the single. The song was co-produced by Conny Plank and featured members of Can, and also Robert Görl of D.A.F. The Smiths
The Smiths were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982. They comprised the singer Morrissey, the guitarist Johnny Marr, the bassist Andy Rourke and the drummer Mike Joyce. They are regarded as one of the most important acts to emerge from the 1980s British independent music scene. The Smiths signed to the independent label Rough Trade Records in 1983 and released their first album, ''The Smiths'', in 1984. ''Live 1983–1989'' is a compilation album of live performances by British pop duo Eurythmics, recorded throughout the 1980s, encompassing the years of their greatest commercial success. It was released in November 1993 by RCA Records. The songs are presented chronologically across two discs, with most of the performances recorded close to the time of the original studio recording. For example, the performances of "Love Is a Stranger" and "Who's That Girl?", both from 1983 albums, are drawn from 1983 concerts and sound very similar to the studio versions. Virgin Records is a record label owned by Universal Music Group. It originally founded as a British independent record label in 1972 by entrepreneurs Richard Branson, Simon Draper, Nik Powell, and musician Tom Newman. ''1984 (For the Love of Big Brother)'' is a soundtrack album by the British pop duo Eurythmics. Released on 12 November 1984 by Virgin Records, it was the duo's fourth album overall and contains music recorded by Eurythmics for the film '' Nineteen Eighty-Four'', based on George Orwell's dystopian novel of the same name. Virgin Films produced the film for release in its namesake year, and commissioned Eurythmics to compose a soundtrack. ''Touch Dance'' is a remix album by the British pop duo Eurythmics, released in May 1984 by RCA Records. It contains seven dance remixes of four tracks from the duo's 1983 album ''Touch'', with four remixes by John "Jellybean" Benitez and three by François Kevorkian and Jay Mark. ''Peace'' is the eighth and final studio album by British pop duo Eurythmics, released on 19 October 1999 by RCA Records. It was the band's first album of new material in 10 years, following 1989's ''We Too Are One''. Release and reception Following their first performance together in eight years at a record company party in 1998, Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart began writing and recording together for the first time since 1989. The album's title was designed to reflect the duo's ongoing concern with global conflict and world peace. It was promoted with a concert on the Greenpeace vessel '' Rainbow Warrior II'', where they played a mixture of old and new songs. ''We Too Are One'' is the seventh studio album by British pop duo Eurythmics, released on 11 September 1989 by RCA Records. It would be the duo's last studio release until 1999's ''Peace''. ''Savage'' is the sixth studio album by British pop duo Eurythmics, released on 9 November 1987 by RCA Records. The album peaked at number seven on the UK Albums Chart and has been certified Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for shipments in excess of 300,000 copies. Background Following the much more mainstream commercial content of their previous two albums, ''Savage'' saw Eurythmics "turn sharp left" (as band member Dave Stewart put it), returning to the much more experimental sound that their early albums incorporated.
