Box Elder High School
Box Elder High School (abbreviated BEHS) is a public high school located in Brigham City, Utah. Part of the Box Elder School District, it serves approximately 1,500 students in the 10th through 12th grades in Utah's Box Elder County. The school's boundaries stretch from Willard in the south, over to Corinne in the west, Honeyville in the north, and Mantua in the east. The school mascot is the bee. History Box Elder High School was built in 1894 at 18 S. 500 E. Brigham City, Utah. Since then, Box Elder Middle School has taken over that building. Over time there have been several additions and modifications to the school building. It moved to its present location, 380 S. 600 W., in 1961. The most recent renovation was started in 2007 and was finished and dedicated in 2010. Brigham City
Brigham City is a city in Box Elder County, Utah, United States. The population was 17,899 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Box Elder County. It lies on the western slope of the Wellsville Mountains, a branch of the Wasatch Range at the western terminus of Box Elder Canyon. Brigham City saw most of its growth during the 1950s and 1960s but has seen a struggling economy and stagnating growth. It is near the headquarters of ATK Thiokol, the company that created the solid rocket boosters for the Space Shuttle. Brigham City is known for its peaches and holds an annual celebration called Peach Days on the weekend after Labor Day. National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) is a nationwide organization for high school students in the United States and outlying territories, which consists of many chapters in high schools. Selection is based on four criteria: scholarship (academic achievement), leadership, service, and character. The National Honor Society requires some sort of service to the community, school, or other organizations. The time spent working on these projects contributes towards the monthly service hour requirement. Elmer Henry "Bear" Ward (October 13, 1912 – March 26, 1996) was an American football player. Ward was born in Willard, Utah, and attended Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah. He then enrolled at Utah State Agricultural College where he played college football for the Utah State Aggies football team. He was selected by the Newspaper Enterprise Association as a first-team center on the 1934 College Football All-America Team. Joel Ferry is an American politician and rancher serving as a member of the Utah House of Representatives from the 1st district. Elected in 2018, he assumed office on January 2, 2019. Early life and education Ferry is a native of Box Elder County, Utah and graduated from Box Elder High School in 1996.
