Box-pressed
Box-pressed (or ''square-pressed'') cigars are usually packed in two layers in a wide flat cigar box that has an attached flip or hinged lid, and is usually made of paper-covered wood or cardboard (as opposed to a plain-wood cabinet). The sides of box-pressed cigars will be gently pressed (so the cigars become squarer) prior to packing; this is because the box is marginally narrower than it would otherwise be to hold the same number of the round cigars, which ensures they are tightly packed and reduces the size of the box. Box-pressing is also a technique that some say gives the cigar a better draw and burn. A cigar is a rolled bundle of dried and fermented tobacco leaves made to be smoked. Cigars are produced in a variety of sizes and shapes. Since the 20th century, almost all cigars are made of three distinct components: the filler, the binder leaf which holds the filler together, and a wrapper leaf, which is often the highest quality leaf used. Often there will be a cigar band printed with the cigar manufacturer's logo. Cigar Box
A cigar box is a box container for cigar packaging. Traditionally cigar boxes have been made of wood, cardboard or paper. Spanish cedar has been described as the "best" kind of wood for cigar boxes because of its beautiful grain, fine texture, and pleasant odor and ability to keep out insects. Eucalyptus and yellow poplar have been popular substitutes that were sometimes stained and scented to resemble it. Other typical woods for cigar boxes include mahogany, elm, and white oak; less-popular are basswood, Circassian walnut, and rosewood. There are several types of cigar boxes, differing both in construction and purpose. Hinge
A hinge is a mechanical bearing that connects two solid objects, typically allowing only a limited angle of rotation between them. Cabinet Selection
Cabinet selection is a term for cigars purchased in a large, square, plain Spanish cedar cigar box called a ''cabinet box'', a ''slide-lid box'' or ''SLB'', or simply a ''cabinet''. It usually has a wooden slide-lid, although hinged lids are occasionally seen. The cigars are usually packed in amounts of between 20 and 50, but usually 25s or 50s (rarely in amounts of under 15, although Trinidad Robusto Extras and Reyes are both available in cabinets of 12). Singles, 3s or 5s are generally packaged in cardboard or paper boxes, and the individual cigars come wrapped in a cellophane sleeve. In Cuban cigars, however, only machine-made cigars come in cellophane. Cabinet selection cigars generally come packaged without cellophane, and (especially when purchased in 50s) often come in the wooden box tied together in a ''bundle'' with a silk ribbon with the maker's name and the cigar ''model'' stated on the silk ribbon.
