It was recorded at Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco, California, and was produced by Andy Sneap. The album was released July 8, 1997, and re-issued with bonus material in October 2007. Skinlab is an American heavy metal band formed in 1994 in San Francisco, California by vocalist/bassist Steev Esquivel (who used to sing in the Bay Area thrash metal band Defiance), guitarist Mike Roberts (now with San Francisco Bay Area's RAZE the STRAY), guitarist Gary Wendt (who played for the Bay Area thrash band Sacrilege B.C. and currently fronts The Ghost Next Door), and drummer Paul Hopkins. History After releasing three full-length studio albums and an EP, they disbanded in 2003 following the departure of two core members. Groove metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music that began in the early 1990s. The genre achieved success in the 1990s and continued having success in the 2000s. Inspired by thrash metal and traditional heavy metal, groove metal features raspy singing and screaming, down-tuned guitars, heavy guitar riffs, and syncopated rhythms. Andy Sneap (born 18 July 1969) is an English guitarist, record producer and composer with over 100 albums to his name, most of which have been produced at his Backstage Recording studios in rural Derbyshire. Some of the most critically acclaimed production work on albums include ''Deliverance'' by Opeth and '' Disarm the Descent'' by Killswitch Engage; for which he earned a Swedish Grammis and a US Grammy nomination, respectively. As a performer, he first built his reputation as one of the guitarists in the British thrash metal band Sabbat, and played with them up until their disbanding. He is currently one of the co-guitarists of the British heavy metal band Hell.
