Bouldering At The 2019 IFSC Climbing World Cup
The 2019 season of the IFSC Climbing World Cup was the 21st season of the competition. Bouldering competitions were held at six stops of the IFSC Climbing World Cup. The bouldering season began on April 5 at the World Cup in Meiringen, and concluded on June 8 with the World Cup in Vail. At each stop a qualifying was held on the first day of the competition, and the semi-final and final rounds were conducted on the second day of the competition. The winners were awarded trophies, and the best three finishers received medals. At the end of the season an overall ranking was determined based upon points, which athletes were awarded for finishing in the top 30 of each individual event. Janja Garnbret won the women's seasonal title, winning all six competitions of the season in the process, an achievement which had never been accomplished before. Meiringen
Meiringen () is a municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. Jongwon Chon
Chon Jong-won (born February 7, 1996) is a South Korean sport climber, who won the IFSC Climbing World Cup in 2015 and 2017 in the bouldering discipline. Biography In 2012 Chon participated in his first international youth competitions. In 2013 he won second place in the Asian youth championships. Since 2014 he climbs as an adult in the Bouldering World Cup. In his first season, he reached the finals twice and won fourth place both times. He finished the season at rank 9. Chon reached the finals of the IFSC World Cup four times in 2015 and finished 6th in Toronto, 2nd in Chongquing, 1st in Haiyang, and 3rd in Munich. Julia Chanourdie
Julia Chanourdie (born 25 June 1996) is a French professional rock climber. She is mainly active in lead climbing competitions. She also climbs outdoors, and on November 7, 2020, she became the second-ever female in history to climb a route, ''Eagle–4'' in Saint-Léger-du-Ventoux, France. Petra Klingler (born 14 February 1992) is a Swiss rock climber who specializes in competition climbing. Known as a versatile climber, she competes in a wide range of competitive events, including competition bouldering, competition speed climbing, competition lead climbing, and also competition ice climbing. Early life Klingler is a third-generation climber and began climbing multipitch when she was six years old. She and her brother would spend weekends outdoors, while her parents and grandparents climbed, typically with three adults climbing and the other watching them. Jessica Pilz
Jessica Pilz (born 22 November 1996) is an Austrian professional rock climber. She started competing in 2010, both in lead climbing and bouldering. From 2011 to 2015, she won six international youth competitions in lead climbing. In 2014, she also won both the European Youth Cup and Youth Championships in bouldering. In 2017 she won the Winter Military World Games both in lead climbing and bouldering. In 2018, she won the Lead Climbing World Championships in Innsbruck, by climbing the route a few seconds faster than the former World Champion, Janja Garnbret. is a Japanese professional rock climber, sport climber and boulderer. She participates in both bouldering and lead climbing competitions. She won the IFSC Climbing Asian Youth Championships in lead and bouldering events in 2016, as well as Bouldering Japan Cup in 2017. Akiyo Noguchi
is a Japanese professional rock climber, sport climber and boulderer. She participates in both bouldering and lead climbing competitions. She is known for winning the IFSC Climbing World Cup in Bouldering four times. In her home country, she won Bouldering Japan Cup nine times consecutively from 2005 to 2014, which no other Japanese athlete has been able to match. Alexander Megos (born 12 August 1993) is a German rock climber. He was the first climber to on-sight (climb on the first try without prior practice or advice) a route graded .
