Bose, Basu, Bosu, Boshu or Bosh ( bn, বসু, Bôsu, ) is a surname found amongst upper caste Kulin Kayasthas of West Bengal, India. The traditional Bengali version is Bosu, which is sometimes written Basu, which is alternately spelled as Bose or Basu. It from Sanskrit (, a name of Viṣṇu meaning ‘dwelling in all beings’). History Boses belong to Kayastha caste in Bengal. The Bengali Kayasthas evolved between the 5th/6th century AD and 11th/12th century AD, its component elements being putative Kshatriyas and mostly Brahmins, according to André Wink. Girish Chandra Bose (October 29, 1853 – January 1, 1939) was an Indian educator and botanist. Early life and education Bose was born on October 29, 1853 in the village of Berugram in the Burdwan district of India. He attended Hooghly Collegiate School, Hooghly College, and received a BA degree in 1876. After graduation, he was hired as a lecturer of science at Ravenshaw College, where he worked until 1881. At the end of 1881, he was offered a state scholarship to study agriculture at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester, England. Fanindra Nath Bose
Fanindra Nath Bose (2 March 1888 – 1 August 1926) was a Bengal-born sculptor known for his small works in bronze. He worked in Scotland and for sometime was appointed sculptor to the Gaekwar Maharaja Sayajirao III of Baroda. Life and work Bose was born in Bohor, Vikrampura, Bengal, son of Babu Taranath Bose. He joined the Jubilee Art Academy and then went to the Government School of Art at Calcutta where he studied under E.B. Havell. He then moved to England and joined the Royal Institution at Edinburgh. Chandranath Basu (1844-1910) was a Bengali litterateur. A staunch Hindu, Chandranath coined the term Hindutva and has been regarded as a doyen of economic nationalism in Bengal. Early life and education Chandranath was born on 31 August 1844 in Koikala village at Hooghly district, Bengal Presidency, British India. He was the second son of Sitanath Basu, and had 3 sisters. Buddhadeb Bosu
Buddhadeva Bose (; 1908–1974), also spelt Buddhadeb Bosu, was an Indian Bengali writer of the 20th century. Frequently referred to as a poet, he was a versatile writer who wrote novels, short stories, plays and essays in addition to poetry. He was an influential critic and editor of his time.
