Bosco Lowe (born March 27, 1943) is an American former stock car racing and ARCA driver who mainly competed in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series, as well as its predecessors, the Sportsman Division, and the Late Model Sportsman Division. Fairview is a census-designated place (CDP) in Buncombe County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 2,678 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Asheville Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The William Nelson Camp Jr. House, John A. Lanning House, Dr. Cireo McAfee McCracken House, and Sherrill's Inn are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Martin Gash bought 76 acres on Cripple Creek (later Gash's Creek) on November 27, 1793. Marshes which attracted buffalo had to be drained in order to use the land. Stock car racing events in the NASCAR Xfinity Series have been held at Martinsville Speedway, in Martinsville, Virginia during numerous seasons and times of year since the series’ inception in 1982. Races were first held from 1982 to 1994, and a one-off race occurred in July 2006. In October 2020, the series returned after a 14-year absence, adding a second date in 2021. 1983 Daytona 500
The 1983 Daytona 500, the 25th running of the event, was held February 20 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida as the first race of the 1983 NASCAR Winston Cup season. Summary Cale Yarborough was the first driver to run a qualifying lap of more than at the 1983 Daytona 500 in his #28 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. However, on his second of two qualifying laps, Yarborough crashed and flipped his car in turn four. The car had to be withdrawn, and the lap did not count (unlike current rules). Despite the crash, Yarborough drove a Hardee's Show Car (a Pontiac LeMans) in second-round qualifying and made the field. Ricky Rudd wound up with the pole, driving Richard Childress' Chevrolet in what would become a breakthrough season for the longtime independent driver Childress. The NASCAR Cup Series is the top racing series of the NASCAR, National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). The series began in 1949 as the Strictly Stock Division, and from 1950 to 1970 it was known as the Grand National Division. In 1971, when the series began leasing its naming rights to the R. J.
