Bosansko Grahovo Massacre
The Bosansko Grahovo massacre was a massacre of Croat civilians was committed by local Serb rebels on 27 July 1941 in the village of Bosansko Grahovo. Background On 27 July 1941, a Yugoslav Partisan-led uprising began in the area of Dvar and Bosansko Grahovo (Drvar uprising). It was a coordinated effort from both sides of the Una River in the territory of southeastern Lika and southwestern Bosanska. It succeeded in transferring key NDH territory under rebel control. Incident On the same day the Trubar massacre occurred, Chetniks and other affiliated Serb rebels, commanded by Branko Bogunović, attacked Croat civilians in Bosansko Grahovo and surrounding villages, killing about 100, of whom 62 were identified. Among those killed were at least 5 women and 9 children. Numerous homes were burned, along with the Catholic church and rectory in Grahovo. Bosansko Grahovo
Bosansko Grahovo ( sr-cyr, Босанско Грахово) is a town and municipality located in Canton 10 of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is situated in western Bosnia and Herzegovina along the border with Croatia. History Gavrilo Princip, the main perpetrator of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo in 1914, was born in the village of Obljaj located just east of Bosansko Grahovo. From 1929 to 1941, Bosansko Grahovo was part of the Vrbas Banovina of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In the Drvar uprising Grahovo was captured by the Serb rebels commanded by Branko Bogunović. Bogunović joined Yugoslav Army in the Fatherland and in September 1941 he was appointed as commander of the ''Chetnik Regiment "Gavrilo Princip"'' from Grahovo. Chetniks
The Chetniks ( sh-Cyrl-Latn, Четници, Četnici, ; sl, Četniki), formally the Chetnik Detachments of the Yugoslav Army, and also the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland and the Ravna Gora Movement, was a Kingdom of Yugoslavia, Yugoslav royalist and Serbian nationalist movement and Guerrilla warfare, guerrilla force in Axis powers, Axis-occupied Yugoslavia. Although it was not a homogeneous movement, it was led by Draža Mihailović. While it was anti-Axis in its long-term goals and engaged in marginal resistance activities for limited periods, it also engaged in tactical or selective Collaborationism, collaboration with the occupying forces for almost all of the war. Srb Uprising
The Srb uprising ( sh, Ustanak u Srbu) was a rebellion against the Independent State of Croatia ( hr, Nezavisna Država Hrvatska, NDH) that began on 27 July 1941 in Srb, a village in the region of Lika. The uprising was started by the local population as a response to persecutions of Serbs by the Ustaše and was led by Chetniks and Yugoslav Partisans. It soon spread across Lika and Bosanska Krajina. During the uprising numerous war crimes were committed against local Croat and Muslim population, especially in the area of Kulen Vakuf. As NDH forces lacked the strength to suppress the uprising, the Italian Army, which was not a target of the rebels, expanded its zone of influence to Lika and parts of Bosanska Krajina. Juraj Gospodnetić
The Reverend Juraj Gospodnetić (9 January 1910 – 27 July 1941) was a Croatian Roman Catholic priest who was tortured and murdered by Chetniks during the Bosansko Grahovo massacre. The Holy See started the process of beatification of Father Gospodnetić on 21 December 2014 as well as the process of beatification of the other three priests of the Diocese of Banja Luka murdered in the massacres during the Second World War, Waldemar Maximilian Nestor, Antun Dujlović and Krešimir Barišić. Branko Bogunović
Branko "Brane" Bogunović ( sr-Cyrl, Бранко Бране Богуновић; 24 November 1911 – 1945) was one of the commanders of Serb rebels during the Drvar uprising who later became military officer of the Yugoslav Army in the Fatherland. On 27 July 1941, Bogunović commanded the Serb rebels who captured Bosansko Grahovo from Ustaše. He joined Yugoslav Army in the Fatherland (Chetniks) and became the commander of the "Gavrilo Princip" Chetnik Regiment, a part of Dinara Chetnik Division. After about a year the regiment under his control became a brigade. In 1942 Bogunović was awarded by Slobodan Jovanović, president of the Yugoslav Government in Exile with Karađorđe's Star, while commander of the Dinara Chetnik Division, Ilija Trifunović Birčanin promoted Bogunović to rank of voivode. Drvar Uprising
The Drvar uprising ( sr, Устанак у Дрвару) was the World War II uprising of the Serb population of Bosnian Krajina (modern-day Bosnia and Herzegovina). Italy supported it, both politically and in arms, in its struggle against the fascist puppet state of the Independent State of Croatia between 27 July and 26 September 1941. The genocidal activities of the Independent State of Croatia forced the Serb population to organize an uprising. It had no ideological background and was simply a struggle for physical survival, with rebels considering themselves guerilla. Italy used the uprising to create an opening to establish its influence beyond the zones of Croatia it already occupied per formal agreements. Dvar is an anonymous virtual band from Russia that plays darkwave and electronic music. The first Dvar album was released in 1995, and the most recent in 2022. History The members of Dvar have kept their identities secret, but there's an anonymous info that name of one member is Darya.
