Borough 10 () is a southeastern borough of Düsseldorf, the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The borough covers an area of 5.30 square kilometres and (as of December 2020) has about 25,000 inhabitants, which makes it the smallest borough both by area and by population. The borough borders with the Düsseldorf borough 9 and with the rural district of Mettmann. Stadtbezirk
A ''Stadtbezirk'' (also called ''Ortsbezirk'' in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate) is an administrative division in Germany, which is part of a larger city. It is translated as "borough". In Germany, ''Stadtbezirke'' usually only exist in a metropolis with more than 150,000 inhabitants. For example, Wattenscheid, which was a town in its own right until 1974, is now a ''Stadtbezirk'' within the city of Bochum in the Ruhr area of North Rhine-Westphalia. In Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, the term ''Ortsbezirk'' is also used for districts of smaller cities. A ''Stadtbezirk'' may consist of several smaller parts: ''Stadtteile'' or ''Ortsteile''. While in some cities ''Stadtbezirke'' are only used for statistical purposes, many other ''Stadtbezirke'' have elected representatives. Borough 9 () is a southern Boroughs of Düsseldorf, borough of Düsseldorf, the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The borough covers an area of 36.57 square kilometres and (as of December 2020) has approximately 94,000 inhabitants, making it the city's second most populous borough after Borough 3 (Düsseldorf), Borough 3. Mettmann (district)
Mettmann () is a Kreis (district) in the middle of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Neighboring are the Ennepe-Ruhr, Rhein-Kreis Neuss, Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis and the district-free cities Cologne, Leverkusen, Wuppertal, Solingen, Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Mülheim, Essen. It is the most densely populated rural district in Germany; it borders Düsseldorf Airport in the northwestern district borders, on the city limits of Ratingen, and is also near Cologne Bonn Airport. It was named after Mettmann, its district seat. History In the 12th century the area of today's district became the property of the earldom Berg. Garath () is a suburb of Düsseldorf, Germany, south of the city centre and part of Borough 10. It has an area of , and 19,048 inhabitants (2020). Geography Garath adjoins the Düsseldorf suburbs of Urdenbach to the north-west , Benrath to the north and Hellerhof to the south. To the east lies Hilden a town in Mettmann district and to the southwest is Monheim am Rhein, part of Langenfeld. History Garath is named after ''Schloss Garath'', a manor house that traces its history back to the 9th century. The oldest known record of Garath's existence is in a contract from 1271 witnessed by Bruno von Ganderode, the lord of Garath. Düsseldorf-Hellerhof
Hellerhof is a quarter of the city of Düsseldorf, part of Borough 10. Düsseldorf-Hellerhof is in the far southeast part of Düsseldorf. It connects Düsseldorf with the towns of Langenfeld and Monheim am Rhein. It is a young quarter, founded in the middle 1970s. It has an area of , and 5,737 inhabitants (2020). In contrast to its direct neighbour Garath, which consists mainly of projects, Hellerhof is socially in a far better social situation because there is much detached and semi-detached housing and only a few blocks of flats. The name comes from an old farm, the Hellerhof (Heller's farm).
