"Born to Roll" is a single by Masta Ace Incorporated. Released initially as a standalone single in 1994, "Born To Roll" is the West Coast remake of "Jeep Ass Niguh" (the hit single from their 1993 debut album ''SlaughtaHouse'') with the same lyrics, now musically modified to pay homage to the West Coast sound (which was popular by this time) and the lowrider scene, keeping with the theme of cars and loud, booming music. Group leader Masta Ace was the sole performer of the song, as well as the sole producer of this version under the credit of Ase One. "Born To Roll" became Masta Ace's biggest chart hit, peaking at number 23 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and also at #5 on the Hot Rap Singles chart, garnering relatively greater popularity than its original East Coast counterpart. Masta Ace Incorporated was an American hip hop crew formed by rapper Masta Ace. History The group, also known as ''The I.N.C.'', included Eyceurokk (Eyce, Uneek and Rokkdiesel), Lord Digga, Paula Perry and R&B vocalist Leschea. Ace first gained notice in the rap world as a member of the legendary Juice Crew, and with the release of his acclaimed 1990 debut '' Take a Look Around'', which featured an appearance from Eyceurokk. In 1992, Ace formed the I.N.C. crew and recorded their first group album, ''SlaughtaHouse'', which was released in May 1993. Ace provided almost all of the rapping, with Lord Digga serving as the hype-man. Digga was also responsible for a bulk of the beats, producing five of the album's songs as part of the duo Bluez Brothers. ''Sittin' on Chrome'' is the second and final studio album by American hip hop group Masta Ace Incorporated and the third album by Brooklyn-based rapper Masta Ace. It was released on May 2, 1995, through Delicious Vinyl. Recording sessions took place at Firehouse Studios in Brooklyn. Production was handled by Masta Ace under his producer moniker 'Ase One', as well as the Bluez Brothas, Louie "Phat Kat" Vega and Uneek, with Orlando Aguillen serving as executive producer. It peaked at number 69 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and number 19 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums in the United States. Ace followed the success of his 1994 hits "Jeep Ass Niguh" and "Crooklyn" (released with the Crooklyn Dodgers) with his most commercially successful album, which concentrated more on the West Coast hip hop/gangsta rap sound that particularly became a popular trend among many artists nationwide since the mega-success of Dr. Dre's ''The Chronic''. ''SlaughtaHouse'' is the debut studio album by American hip hop group Masta Ace Incorporated and the second album by Brooklyn-based rapper Masta Ace. It was released on May 4, 1993, through Delicious Vinyl. Recording sessions took place at Firehouse Studios in Brooklyn. Production was handled by Masta Ace under his producer moniker 'Ase One', as well as the Bluez Brothas, Uneek, Latief, and the Beatheads, with Orlando Aguillen serving as executive producer. It peaked at number 134 on the ''Billboard'' 200 in the United States. The loose concept of the album is addressing the growing trend of violence in hip-hop music at the time, notably from gangsta rap. He addresses this satirically in the over-the-top single "Slaughtahouse". The album infuses West Coast funk-influenced beats with rough "New York rhyming". Delicious Vinyl is an American independent record label founded by Matt Dike and Michael Ross in 1987 and based in Los Angeles, California. History Michael Ross was a student at the University of California, Los Angeles when he met Matt Dike, a DJ from New York, in 1983. Dike was working at the Rhythm Lounge in Hollywood. They discovered that they were both members of Impact Record Pool, a service that provided new 12" records to club DJs, and that they shared an interest in soul, funk, and hip-hop. Soon Dike became the top DJ at Power Tools, a club in Los Angeles. In 1987, they founded Delicious Vinyl, an independent record label. Almost immediately the label was a success. Delicious Vinyl's first release was "Crackerjack" by Master Rhyme and "On Fire"/"Cheeba Cheeba" by Tone Loc, a Los Angeles gang member. André "Doctor Dré" Brown (born December 5, 1963) is an American rapper, radio personality and former MTV VJ. Early life André Brown was born and raised in Westbury, New York, on Long Island. Career In the early 1980s, Doctor Dré was a DJ at WBAU, the radio station of Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. With three other DJs at the station, he formed the "Concept Crew", which began to create its own music. In 1986, they renamed themselves Original Concept, a hip-hop group that released one album on Def Jam Recordings, ''Straight from the Basement of Kooley High'' in 1988, featuring the track was "Pump that Bass." A lowrider or low rider is a customized car with a lowered body. These customized vehicles are generally individually painted with intricate, colorful designs, rolling on wire-spoke wheels with whitewall tires. Lowrider rims are generally smaller than the original wheels, ranging down to . They are also often fitted with hydraulic systems that allow height adjustable suspension, where the vehicle is raised or lowered at the owner's command.
