Boris Chirkov
Boris Petrovich Chirkov (russian: Борис Петрович Чирков; 13 August 1901, Brianka – 28 May 1982, Moscow) was a Soviet and Russian actor and Pedagogy, pedagogue. He appeared in 50 films between 1928 and 1975. He was awarded four USSR State Prize, Stalin Prizes: in 1941, 1947, 1949, and in 1952. People's Artist of the USSR (1950) and Hero of Socialist Labour (1975). ''The Youth of Maxim'' (russian: Юность Максима) is a 1935 Soviet historical drama film directed by Grigori Kozintsev and Leonid Trauberg, the first part of trilogy about the life of a young factory worker named Maxim. Plot In 1910, a revolutionary underground group spreads leaflets featuring anti-tsarist slogans. Maksim, a young, happy-go-lucky worker and his comrades help the teacher Natasha, who is engaged in illegal activities in the factory, hide from the police. Maksim's friend Andrei and another worker lose their lives. Their funeral turns into a huge demonstration which is suppressed by the police. Numerous people are arrested, among them Maksim, who subsequently becomes a Social Democratic activist. ''The Great Citizen'' (russian: Великий гражданин, Velikiy grazhdanin) is a 1938 Soviet biopic film directed by Fridrikh Ermler. A fictionalized biography of Sergei Kirov (the character's name is Shakhov), the film was intended as ideological support for the Great Purges; it depicts life in USSR during the 1920s and 1930s. Stalin made direct interventions in Mikhail Bleiman and Manuel Bolshintsov's screenplay. During the making of ''The Great Citizen'' four people associated with it were arrested. In the press Ermler and his screenwriters were obliged to condemn the "wrecker" leadership of Lenfilm, most importantly Piotrovski. Plot Soviet scientists-biochemists Losev and Dobrotvorsky made a scientific discovery that allowed one to effectively fight against pain. They went on a scientific trip to the United States, where, they shared the results of their research with Americans who they thought were colleagues, but who actually were businessmen and spies. While still in the U.S., they also published an article about uncompleted work of their team. Upon their return to the Soviet Union, the scientists were criticized for their actions in the United States.
