Alice Middleton Boring
Alice Middleton Boring (, February 22, 1883 – September 18, 1955) was an American biologist, zoologist, and herpetologist, who taught biology and did research in the United States and China. Early life and education Alice Middleton Boring was born in 1883 in Philadelphia. Her family originally settled in the Americas in the 17th century. Her relatives were involved in the Moravian Church, which would greatly influence Alice's upbringing.Ogilvie & Choquette (1999), p. 15. Boring attended the Friends' Central School, a coeducational school where she excelled in the sciences. After graduation Boring enrolled at Bryn Mawr College, where her sister had graduated in 1896. Floyd Boring
Floyd M. Boring (June 25, 1915 – February 1, 2008) was an American Secret Service agent who served with five US Presidents. He was also present and took part in the gunfight that foiled an assassination attempt on Harry S. Truman. Truman assassination attempt On the afternoon of 1 November 1950, Truman was taking a nap at Blair House, where he was living while The White House, across Pennsylvania Avenue, was being renovated. Boring was stationed outside Blair House with several uniformed White House guards, while two Secret Service agents were posted inside. Around 2:00 Oscar Collazo and Griselio Torresola started to fire at Blair House. Boring, drawing his .38-caliber Colt pistol, known as a Detective's Special, fired a bullet through the hat of one of the gunmen, Oscar Collazo, grazing his scalp. Melvin Lyle "Mel" Boring (born September 12, 1939) is an American children's author specializing in non-fiction. A member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Boring has produced works such as ''Incredible Constructions and the People Who Built Them''; ''Caterpillars, Bugs, and Butterflies''; and ''Guinea Pig Scientists: Bold Self-Experimenters in Science and Medicine'' (coauthored with Leslie Dendy). Wayne Boring (June 5, 1905 – February 20, 1987) was an American comic book artist best known for his work on Superman from the late 1940s to 1950s. He occasionally used the pseudonym Jack Harmon. ''David Boring'' is a graphic novel by American cartoonist Daniel Clowes. It was Serial (literature), serialized in issues #19–21 of Clowes's comic book ''Eightball (comics), Eightball'' and appeared in collected form from Pantheon Books in 2000.
