Boreas (god)
In ancient Greek religion and myth, the Anemoi (Greek: , 'Winds') were wind gods who were each ascribed a cardinal direction from which their respective winds came (see Classical compass winds), and were each associated with various seasons and weather conditions. They were the progeny of the goddess of the dawn Eos and her husband Astraeus. Etymology The earliest attestation of the word in Greek and of the worship of the winds by the Greeks, are perhaps the Mycenaean Greek word-forms , , , , i.e. 'priestess of the winds'. These words, written in Linear B, are found on the KN Fp 1 and KN Fp 13 tablets. Mythology The Anemoi are minor gods and are subject to the god Aeolus. They were sometimes represented as gusts of wind, and at other times were personified as winged men. ''Boreas'' ( tr, Poyraz) is a 2006 Turkish short drama film, written and directed by Belma Baş, in which a child observes the rustic life of her elderly relatives in a remote old house in the mountains. The film was premiered in competition at the 59th Cannes Film Festival and was shown at the 43rd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Prize. ''Boreas'' is a peer-reviewed academic journal that has been published on behalf of the Collegium Boreas since 1972. The journal covers all branches of quaternary research, including biological and non-biological aspects of the quaternary environment in both glaciated and non-glaciated areas. Formerly published by Taylor & Francis, ''Boreas'' has been published by Wiley-Blackwell since 1998. According to the ''Journal Citation Reports'', the journal has a 2012 impact factor of 2.457. Boreas (restaurant)
· Boreas is a defunct restaurant located in Heeze in the Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin stars from the period 2002–2009 and two Michelin stars from the period 2010–2016. GaultMillau awarded them 19.0 points (out of 20) in 2011. Boreas was run by head chef Nico Boreas and his wife and maître Sonja Boreas. The restaurant was member of Les Patrons Cuisiniers. On 25 April 2016 it was announced that the restaurant would close on 23 July 2016. The owners wanted to do something else and an interesting party appeared to take over the restaurant. New owner is Jan Sobecki, the two-starred chef of the closed down restaurant Chapeau!, who started the new restaurant Tribeca in mid August. In the spring of 2018, Nico and Sonja Boreas opened a new restaurant in Roermond, called Sabero. A place of the same name in Spain, but also an anagram of their previous restaurant Boreas. 1916 Boreas
1916 Boreas, provisional designation , is an eccentric, stony asteroid and near-Earth object of the Amor group, approximately 3 kilometers in diameter. After its discovery in 1953, it became a lost asteroid until 1974. It was named after Boreas from Greek mythology. Discovery ''Boreas'' was discovered on 1 September 1953, by Belgian astronomer Sylvain Arend at the Royal Observatory of Belgium in Uccle. The asteroid was observed for 2 months and then with time became a lost asteroid. It was recovered in 1974, by Richard Eugene McCrosky, G.
