Bootleg Fire
The Bootleg Fire, named after the nearby Bootleg Spring, was a large wildfire that started near Beatty, Oregon, on July 6, 2021. Before being fully contained on 15 August 2021, it had burned . It is the third-largest fire in the history of Oregon since 1900. At the fire's fastest growth in mid July, it grew at about per hour, and it became the second largest wildfire in the United States of the 2021 wildfire season. Beatty, Oregon
Beatty is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Klamath County, Oregon, United States. Beatty is along Oregon Route 140 at the confluence of the Sycan and Sprague rivers and is by highway northeast of Klamath Falls. Beatty was named for J. L. Beatty, a missionary who lived nearby when the area was in the Klamath Indian Reservation. The post office in Beatty, ZIP code 97621, was established in 1913. Toby "Winema" Riddle is buried near Beatty. Beatty had a station on the Oregon, California and Eastern Railway, which by 1927 reached from Klamath Falls to Bly. A 1941 timetable lists Beatty as the 13th stop east of Klamath Falls between Sprague River and Sycan. 2021 Oregon Wildfires
The 2021 Oregon wildfire season began in May 2021. More than 1,000 fires had burned at least across the state as of July 21, 2021. A fire whirl or fire devil (sometimes referred to as a fire tornado) is a whirlwind induced by a fire and often (at least partially) composed of flame or ash. These start with a whirl of wind, often made visible by smoke, and may occur when intense rising heat and turbulent wind conditions combine to form whirling eddies of air. These eddies can contract a tornado-like vortex that sucks in debris and combustible gases. OC&E Woods Line State Trail
The OC&E Woods Line State Trail is a rail trail in Klamath and Lake counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is Oregon's longest state park.
