Booster (Fabbri Ride)
Booster is an amusement ride made by Fabbri Group, Fabbri. It is a pendulum ride, similar to the later Speed (ride), Speed by KMG (company), KMG (which, due to its similarity to the Fabbri ride, is often referred to as the KMG Booster). There is another ride from the Italian company, Zamperla. Zamperla made a booster like ride called Turbo Force made in 2001. Incidents On August 4, 2007, at the Fête des Loges in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, a gondola broke loose and crashed to the ground. Two people (a father and son) in the gondola were killed and two seriously injured. Two other people were stuck 40 meters in the air for over two hours. Same problem at the funfair of Rennes, France, in the night of the new year, a technical problem had blocked the ride but not the safety harness system, 8 people who were in the basket located at the top of the ride at 55 were rescued by a helicopter. Fabbri Group
Fabbri Group is an Italian amusement rides manufacturer based in Calto, Italy. They are known for producing a number staple attractions for both amusement parks and funfairs, such as the Booster and the Kamikaze Explorer. History Fabbri was founded by Romolo Fabbri in Bergantino, an Italian village which became to home a number of amusement ride producers after World War II. Manufacturing began in 1950 with the Avio (Aeroplane Ride), a ride specifically designed for traveling shows in Italy. Over the following of years, Fabbri would evolve this attraction into the popular Telecombat ride. Pendulum Ride
Pendulum rides are amusement rides based on the motion of a fixed pendulum. The configuration of the ride consists of a gondola, arm, and an axle. One end of the arm is fitted with a passenger-carrying gondola, while the other is attached to the axle. In some models, the arm extends beyond the axle and is fitted with a heavy counterweight. The counterweight is often used when the gondola swings through an inversion. In addition to swinging back and forth, some designs incorporate rotating gondolas and may send riders through a complete inversion. Speed is an amusement ride design produced by the Dutch company KMG. It is commonly referred to as KMG Booster, due to its similarity with the Fabbri Booster ride. Pendulum Rides
A pendulum is a weight suspended from a pivot so that it can swing freely. When a pendulum is displaced sideways from its resting, equilibrium position, it is subject to a restoring force due to gravity that will accelerate it back toward the equilibrium position.
