Boort () is a town in Victoria, Australia, located next to Lake Boort, in the Shire of Loddon. The town is known for its native birdlife. Boort is a local Aboriginal word meaning "Smoke from the hill". Main sources of employment are retail, olive processing and tourism. Agriculture is a major industry and employer in the Boort region. Electoral District Of Murray Plains
The electoral district of Murray Plains is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in Australia. It was created in the redistribution of electoral boundaries in 2013, and came into effect at the 2014 state election. The district was created due to the abolition of the districts of Swan Hill and Rodney. It is centred on the Murray River cities of Swan Hill and Echuca, including the towns of Kerang, Lake Boga, Cohuna and Rochester. Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Richmond Lass
Richmond Lass won 31 races as a harness racer and went on to win the 1969 Inter Dominion Pacing Championship. The horse was owned by Fred Miller, from Richmond House, Bung Bong, Victoria and driven by "respected local horseman Jack Moore." Richmond L'Ami Richmond L'Ami (with L'Ami being French for 'friend') a bay horse was born on 14 November 1975. The dam was Richmond Lass and the sire, Tarport Boy. Richmond L'Ami - a pacer - won a number of races including the Boort Cup on 30 January 1982. Death Richmond Lass died at Richmond Park, in a major bush-fire, at Bung Bong, on 14 January 1985. Robinvale Railway Line
The Robinvale railway line is a freight only country railway line in north-western Victoria, Australia. The line branches from the Mildura line at Dunolly, and at Inglewood the Eaglehawk – Inglewood line connects with the Piangil line outside Bendigo. The parallel Kulwin line junctions from the Robinvale line at Korong Vale then continues northward. History The line was opened from Inglewood to Korong Vale in 1882, and first extended towards Charlton as part of what is now the Kulwin line. The line from Korong Vale to Boort opened in 1883, and to Quambatook in 1894. It was extended to Ultima in 1900, to Chillingollah in 1909, to Manangatang in 1914, to Annuello in 1921, and Robinvale in 1924. Lance Picioane (born 7 June 1980) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Adelaide, Hawthorn and the Kangaroos during his time in the Australian Football League (AFL). Picioane attended Essendon Grammar and was captain of the Vic Metro Under 16s and Under 17s which played in the victorious Vic Metro at the 1997 AFL Under 18 Championships. Picioane started his career in 1998 with Adelaide but found it difficult to find a regular spot with a side that had won a premiership the previous season. He failed to play a senior game for Adelaide in 1999 and at the end of the season he was traded to Hawthorn for pick 79 in the upcoming draft. John Schultz (footballer Born 1938)
John Schultz (born 28 September 1938) is a former Australian rules footballer who represented in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He had been a champion high-jumper at Caulfield Grammar School, winning the senior high jump at the 1955 Associated Grammar Schools Combined Athletics Meeting (as had South Melbourne's Jim Taylor in 1948). He also played for the school's First XVIII, a team which also contained other future VFL players, Ron Evans of Essendon and Ron Cabble of Hawthorn.
