Boom Dot Bust
''Boom Dot Bust'' is a comedy album recorded by the Firesign Theatre and released in 1999 on Rhino Records. It was a follow-up to the highly praised '' Give Me Immortality or Give Me Death'' from the previous year, continuing a brief resurgence of the foursome's legendary success from 1968 to 1975. It chronicles life in the fictional small Midwestern town of Billville ("The Town That Nature Forgot to Hate"), where every male resident's first name is some form of William, including mayor William Cudlip P'nisnose (Peter Bergman), who has telekenetic powers; Bill Swatt (David Ossman), coach of the local team the No-neckers, who play some unspecified sport; developer W. The Firesign Theatre (also known as the Firesigns) was an American surreal humour, surreal comedy troupe who first appeared on November 17, 1966, in a live performance on the Los Angeles radio program ''Radio Free Oz'' on station KPFK FM broadcasting, FM. They continued appearing on ''Radio Free Oz'', which later moved to KRLA 1110 AM broadcasting, AM and then KMET (FM), KMET FM, through February 1969. They produced fifteen album, record albums and a single (music), 45 rpm single under contract to Columbia Records from 1967 through 1976, and had three nationally syndicated radio programs: ''The Firesign Theatre Radio Hour Hour'' [sic] in 1970 on KPPC-FM; and ''Dear Friends (radio program), Dear Friends'' (1970–1971) and ''Let's Eat!'' (1971–1972) on KPFK. Surround Sound
Surround sound is a technique for enriching the fidelity and depth of sound reproduction by using multiple audio channels from speakers that surround the listener ( surround channels). Its first application was in movie theaters. Prior to surround sound, theater sound systems commonly had three ''screen channels'' of sound that played from three loudspeakers (left, center, and right) located in front of the audience. Surround sound adds one or more channels from loudspeakers to the side or behind the listener that are able to create the sensation of sound coming from any horizontal direction (at ground level) around the listener.
