Bonney Lake High School
Bonney Lake High School is a public high school in Bonney Lake, Washington, United States, in the Sumner School District. History The Sumner School Board initially proposed a new high school in Bonney Lake in February 1999, to alleviate overcrowding at Sumner High School and also to qualify for increased state funding available for four-year high schools. The District formed a planning committee consisting of community leaders and district personnel to make programming decisions for the new school, and to work with architects on building design. Voters had approved a $44 million bond issue for Sumner High School stadium improvements and the new high school in Bonney Lake. The Sumner School Board delayed naming of the new school because the city of Bonney Lake refused to require impact fees of the builders, potentially costing the district hundreds of thousand dollars. Bonney Lake, Washington
Bonney Lake is a city in Pierce County, Washington. The population was 22,487 at the time of the 2020 census. History Bonney Lake was incorporated as a town on February 28, 1949, after the establishment of a co-op venture to bring electricity and tap water service to local residents. Several unsuccessful attempts were made to disincorporate the town from 1952 to 1972. The City of Bonney Lake and the Greater Bonney Lake Historical Society placed in 13 historical markers between 2009 and 2015, including one for the Naches Trail, which was a well-used immigrant and military trail during the later half of the 1800s. The 2020 Washington Labor Day fires forced the evacuation of an estimated 2,500 residences. The fire spread across 500 acres, and the evacuation lasted from Tuesday, September 8 until the following Sunday, September 12. Snohomish High School
Snohomish High School (SHS) is a secondary school located in the Snohomish School District, in Snohomish, Washington, United States. SHS, built for 1200 students, contains 1,689 9th–12th graders (as of 2016–17). The school serves primarily those students living north of the Snohomish River (nearby Glacier Peak High School, serving those students living south of the river). History Before SHS actually opened it was a courthouse with a small jail section underneath. SHS first opened in 1894 at the completion of the original A building. The school underwent many remodels through the 1980s, including changes to the B building. These changes removed the last vestiges of 'old' Snohomish High School, making the building completely modern. Jordin Jae Andrade (born May 5, 1992) is a track and field hurdler representing Cape Verde at the Olympics in 2016 and 2020 and World Championships in 2017. He specializes in the 400-meter hurdles.
